Birthdays in Third Grade:
We celebrate our learners’
birthdays at school each month!
Please do not send any treats
to school for your child’s birthday. We will share more information at Curriculum Night.
Friday is library day
for 3D
It is very important that all
learners show respect and
be responsible for the VRE
library books.
Please bring your books
to school every
Friday morning
PBL and Technology
(Project Based Learning)
We will launch our first PBL soon…
look for more exciting information in our newsletters!
Our third grade learners will collaborate, communicate, and be
personally responsible as
they work together in third grade!
We have some great technology devices in our class rooms, but please fill out the
BYOD—Bring Your Own Device permission form, coming home soon, so
that your child can bring a device from home as needed.
We will let you know when they may bring a device to school.
We want to welcome everyone back to school! We hope you have enjoyed
your summer break. We want to mention a few important reminders for third graders and their parents as we begin a new school year.
1. Please bring one, small, healthy snack each day, pack it separate from your
lunch box please. No cookies, candies, or chips.
2. Please label your lunch box with your name and class (3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, or 3E)
3. Please bring a leak proof water bottle also labeled with your name and class
4. Please be on time to school everyday. You may arrive at school at 7:30, no
earlier please! The doors will be locked until 7:30, and there is no one outside to
watch the children. When you arrive, go to the gym and sit with your class quietly.
The first bell rings at 7:40. The second bell rings at 7:50, students must be in the
classroom by 7:50 or they are late and counted tardy. Any student arriving past
7:50 will need to go to the office with their parent. Learners begin their school work
as soon as they get to the classroom, so it is very important to be on time. Third
graders will be held responsible for any morning work they do not complete.
5. Please also be on time when you pick up your child after school at 3:05. If
there is a change of plans for pick up, and your child is going home a “different
way” than usual, make sure you have communicated clearly with your child. We
do not always get a chance to check emails in the afternoon and transportation
issues need to be discussed at home before school. If it is an emergency,
please call the office.
6. Lunch! - Please make all lunch plans at home. You can deposit lunch money
on line. Teachers do not handle any lunch money. If you bring cash or checks to
school for lunch, it must be deposited in the cafeteria that morning before
going to the gym. It can easily get lost or misplaced.
7. Most importantly, PLEASE remember that if your child is not coming to school,
send the teacher an email. We get concerned when a child is absent. If you know
in advance that your child will not be in school, please send us an email. Also,
when your child returns, you MUST send a hand written note to explain their absence.
Thank you in advance for your kind cooperation!
These are just a few reminders for all third graders and their
parents. We look forward to sharing much more information with
you at curriculum night on Tuesday, Sept. 8th from 6:00 to
7:30. (Curriculum Night is intended for parents only please)
The first 30 minutes you will meet with the principals then you
will meet in your child’s classroom with your child’s teacher.
We look forward to seeing you all soon!
