Emerge Gallery & Art Center, Home of the Pitt County Arts Council, is a non-profit arts organization
dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Pitt County by promoting artists and arts organizations,
educating through the arts, and making the arts accessible to the entire community.
We offer a variety of workshops and classes for youth and adults all year long in pottery, metal design/
jewelry, painting, drawing, and much more! Our facility has two galleries with rotating exhibitions and a
sales gallery featuring local art. We also have two outreach programs, The Youth Public Arts Project & Art
is Good Medicine benefiting at-risk youth and those affected by cancer.

mini masters' camps (ages 3-5)
The Mini Masters’ Program here at Emerge Gallery & Art Center caters to children ages 3 to 5. This is
a drop off camp program. Camp activities introduce young children to all areas of art including pottery,
painting, drawing, and more! We ask that all children enrolling in the camps be potty trained. Please
note: Children are separated into classes by age, when possible.
Emerging artist Camps (ages 6-10)
The Emerging Artist Program at Emerge Gallery & Art Center offers children ages 6 to 10 the
opportunity to experience the world of art through fun, interactive programs including activities such
as movie making, claymation, music videos, painting, potter’s wheel, printmaking, photography, and
much more! Please note: Children are separated into classes by age, when possible.
advanced youth camps (ages 11 and up)
The Advanced Youth Program at Emerge is a great opportunity for “tweens” and teenagers to expand
their knowledge and expertise in various areas of fine art. We pride ourselves on highquality, hands-on activities not capable in most schools such as metal design, potter’s wheel
techniques, alternative photography, painting with advanced methods & materials, film editing, and
more. Participants will be separated by age when necessary. Youth Camps are opportunities for youth
to immerse themselves in the art area of their choice. Participants will work on in-depth art projects
in the set area.
Volunteer program (ages 15-18)
Emerge Gallery & Art Center, a non-profit 501-(c)3 organization, seeks ambitious and dedicated youth
ages 15 and older to assist with our summer camps for children. Volunteers will help Emerge Staff
with a variety of tasks, such as set-up and clean-up during children’s summer camps as well as serving
as assistants to Emerge Instructors. Participants will receive an official letter documenting hours and
service with our organization for use if their school or civic organizations require volunteer hours. To
participate students must fill out an application and meet with Paula Rountree, Education Coordinator,
prior to their week of service. This program is free. Please note: As a benefit of membership, first
priority in scheduling is given to youth and families that are members of Emerge.

Cost & Camp Pricing:
•Half day programs are $85 for members of Emerge, and $125 for non-members.
•Full day programs are $195 for members of Emerge, and $235 for non-members.
•The Lunch Bunch Option is available for $5 (same price for members and non-members) per day.
This is great if you are not doing the all day camp, but need an extra hour.

•If you are not a member of the Arts Council, join today and enjoy the benefits of membership. Tax-deductible memberships begin at $40.
•Membership Discount: Please note that non-member pricing is the equivalent to member pricing with
the addition of purchasing an individual membership. Membership is tax deductible and runs on a
yearly basis, PLUS you will receive discounts on classes for an entire year! What a value!
ACTIVITIES
•Please, note that we never repeat any project within our summer camp season. While activities such
as pottery, painting, drawing, and mixed media may be listed under several camps as a focus, it is
important to understand that we will always be doing different projects with those mediums.
Therefore, parents are completely able and encouraged to sign up their children for multiple camps
even if similar activities are listed.

SIBLING PROMOTION COUPON
•Half Day Promotion: For every half day program in which you enroll two or more siblings, you will
receive a $5 off each registration after the first child. This coupon only applies to each sibling enrolled
after the 1st enrollment during the same camp.
•Full Day Promotion: For every full day program in which you enroll two or more siblings, you will
receive a $10 off each child’s registration after the first child. The coupon only applies to each sibling
enrolled after the 1st enrollment during the same week and time of camp.
•Promotion Coupons are available for siblings residing in the same household enrolling in the same
summer camp. They will be mailed out after the last week of class.
•Note: Children must be enrolling together during the same camp or a camp at the same time to receive
the promotion.
•Promotions cannot be transferred to different camps or weeks. Promotions can be used for as
many weeks as enrollees wish to sign up for as long as this requirement is met.
FOOD ALLERGIES, MEDICATIONS & SPECIAL NEEDS
•If participating children have food allergies, parents are required to check the appropriate box on the
registration form, denoting the allergy.
•Parents with children that have food allergies MUST PACK THEIR OWN SNACK(S). Emerge IS
NOT responsible for supplying snacks for children with food allergies.
•We ask that you please notify the Emerge Gallery & Art Center of any medical conditions or special
needs that your child may require. You may include this information on the denoted area on the
registration form. We do not allow children to administer medicine to themselves.
•Emerge staff is not responsible or allowed to administer medication to camp participants. In the event
that a child requires medication, a parent or guardian must come to administer medications.
No exceptions.
•Please, list any medications, including behavioral modification, on the denoted area on the registration
form.
CLASS SIZE
•One of our promises is to offer high quality art education with small class sizes and a lot of instructor/
student one-on-one interaction.
•We try to keep classes with 12 or less children per each instructor & assistant.
SCHOLARSHIPS
•A limited number of full and partial scholarships will be available. Scholarships are based on financial

PAYMENTS & REFUNDS
•Payments must be made in full – deposits are not accepted.
•There will be NO refunds, either full or partial, after five days prior to a summer art camp.
•Full Refunds are available up to two weeks in advance, minus the processing fee of $20. Full refunds must be
requested in writing either via mail, in person, or via email to [email protected]
•Partial Refunds are available after two weeks on a sliding scale up to five days prior to camp and include the
deduction of the processing fee of $20. The scale of what Emerge will retain if a
cancellation occurs:
•13 & 12 days prior - 10% of enrollment plus the $20 processing fee
•11 & 10 days prior - 20% of enrollment plus the $20 processing fee
•9 & 8 days prior- 30% of enrollment plus the $20 processing fee
•7 days prior- 40% of enrollment plus the $20 processing fee
•6 days prior - 50% of enrollment plus the $20 processing fee
•5 days prior - 60% of enrollment plus the $20 processing fee
•After 5 days prior – no refund is given
•In the case of emergency, sickness, and similar events, please contact the Emerge Gallery & Art Center via
Cathy Hardison concerning your situation and need of refund. Each situation is examined on a case by case
basis and decisions made by the education committee.
•In the event of any refund, Emerge Gallery & Art Center will retain a $20 processing fee.
•Emerge does not offer makeup classes of any type for summer art camps missed due to no fault of our
organization. This includes switching camps/classes or sessions.

•We do not take phone registrations. There are 30 or less spots for each camp. Register early!

Wild Things
Let creativity run wild as campers create all kinds of animals both real and mythical – from your favorite fourlegged creatures to fantastical beasts. They will use slab, pinch, and coil techniques to make animal masks, pots, and
sculptures as well as houses and habitats for their furry, feathered or magical friends.

Handmade & Wheelturned It’s handmade all the way in this unique multifaceted camp! Campers will
work with a variety of hands-on art activities including the following: clay,
wheel throwing, handbuilding & more! Participants will hand build work
using coil, slab, and molding ceramic techniques, as well as spend time
working on the wheel. Participants will create a unique sculpture using a
variety of materials. Time permitting, campers will explore mixed media as
well.

Do you want to have a well-rounded child? Art has been proven to help children exceed in all other areas of
academics. Get a jump-stART in this unique cross curriculum camp in which academic skills are reinforced through
fine art. Children will explore the worlds of pottery, painting, drawing, printmaking, and much more.

Zootropolis
Watch out! Nature and art combine worlds in this cool camp perfect for guys and gals! Learn how to build all kinds
of animals and their dwellings. Campers will learn about the unique characteristics of their favorite creepy crawlers
and fun flyers as we create one-of-a-kind artwork inspired by the nature that surrounds us every day! Participants
will make unique mobiles, clay sculptures, and more.

Move and Groove: Create and Star in a Group Music
Video
A mix of film, visual arts, music, and theater for the little ones.
It is time to rock out and get the wiggles out here at Emerge!
Children will create costume props and backdrop decorations.

The Wheel Makes the World Go Round
Youngsters get lost in the creative process when the pottery wheel begins to spin! Each day will be spent discovering
the connection between hands and clay, learning about centering, and making vessels and bowls. They will also have
be able to paint underglaze on their creations. Time allowing, participants will dive into other mediums as well.

Functional Pots for Tots
This is the week of budding potters to get their hands in the clay. This week will include a variety of functional

who became famous for using broken, found, and everyday objects in

into spectacular art of your own through assemblage, painting and
sculpture.

Photo-tastic
Campers will learn the basics of photography in this fast paced fun
camp. Participants will experience photography in a whole new
way through alternative photography including cyanotype t-shirts,
mixed media utilizing photography by assembling multiple images
and materials. Campers will learn photography processes, some
with, and some without cameras. No special equipment is needed
for this camp. Emerge will supply point-and-shoot cameras for
projects that require them.

metalsmiths work, and even trying it for themselves.

Rock Out - Create, Film & Star in a Group Music Video
Back by popular demand! It’s time to ROCK OUT here at Emerge!
Participants will create every aspect of their very own music video.
Children will create their costumes, construct backdrops, sets,
and more! Participants will also act as directors as they arrange
and film these musical masterpieces. A mix of filmmaking, music,
and theatrer! Monday - Wednesday will be used tow work on
choreography and props. Thursday and Friday will be used to
film their videos. Time willing, participants will create artwork to
accompany their videos including rock star posters, video covers,
and more! All participants will receive a copy of their film within
two weeks of camp.

This camp is perfect for the budding filmmaker! Participants will explore
the world of stop motion animation and work as part of a team as they
explore other animation techniques like claymation and “humanimation”.
At the end of the week, the kids will have created a film to share with family
and friends. Films will be mailed out within two weeks of the conclusion of
camp.

This is a great camp to challenge the budding filmmaker. This camp highlights our innovative make a movie in
five days project in which students are given a topic in which they have to work together to shoot, direct, and edit
in a short amount of time! This camp is diverse, fast moving, and most of all, fun! Emphasizing teamwork, critical
thinking skills, and creativity; this is a winner for everyone! All participants will receive a copy of their film within

Program Description:
Emerge Gallery & Art Center, a non-profit 501-(c)3 organization, seeks ambitious and dedicated youth ages
15 and older to assist with our summer camps for children.
Volunteers will help Emerge Staff with a variety of tasks, such as set up and clean up during children’s
summer camps as well as serving as assistants to Emerge Instructors. Participants will receive an official
letter documenting hours and service with our organization for use if their school or civic organizations
require volunteer hours.
To participate, students must fill out an application and meet with Paula Rountree the Education
Coordinator prior to their week of service. This program is free. Please note: As a benefit of membership,
first priority in scheduling is given to youth and families that are members of the Arts Council.
