PreparingforAward/ProjectClose‐out Spendingaconsiderableamountofawardfundsinthelast30‐120daysofanawardiscounterto mostsponsorguidelines,againstsoundbusinesspractices,andraisesredflagswithauditors.The timelysubmissionofallpersonnel,purchasingandtraveltransactionsareimperativetoproper awardcloseout.Itmaybenecessaryforustocontactyouforfurtherjustificationwhen spendingfundsattheendofanaward.Ifmoretimeisneededtomeetthedeliverablesofyour award,pleasecontactyourGrantandContractAdministratortodiscussthepossibilityofanocost extension.Thisshouldbedoneatleast90daysbeforetheawardterminationdate. Whenfacultyworkfulltimeontheirproject(s)duringthesummer,sponsorsexpectfulltimeeffort duringthisperiod.Anyleave,withtheexceptionofholidays,isleavewithoutpay.Ifafaculty memberisinvolvedinactivitiesotherthansponsorrelatedprojectactivityduringtheirfulltime employment,therecouldbeadverseactions.
