Newsletter | 10th March 2017 Dear families, Voice in a million concert We have reached the end of another productive, exciting and busy week at NNA! Children in years 4,5 and 6 were thrilled to be taking part in a once in a lifetime opportunity performing at Wembley Arena. Mr Dunn lead a thought provoking assembly on the topic of name calling. He shared personal experiences to get the children thinking about the strength and impact of the words they use with their friends. We encourage all families to continue this discussion and to encourage their children to consider the words that they use and the effect that it has on other people. On Monday teachers were thinking outside of the box and considering how best to promote philosophical thinking in our children from FS1 upwards. Look out for our ‘thunks’ around the school (a thunk is a question that makes you think and has no right or wrong answer). A thunk for your to consider is how do you define a family? Mrs Halliday and the choir have been working hard for the past 3 months at developing their beautiful voices and learning how to sing together as a group. Harder than it sounds! Yesterday saw the culmination of all this hard work as the children shone amongst hundreds of other schools from across England and Wales. Parents in attendance were wowed by the level of professionalism displayed by the children and we are all so excited for our next concert in July! Clean air project On Thursday 23rd March, our Eco Warriors will be sharing the findings of their air pollution monitoring. They will be handing out leaflets to raise awareness of this major issue in our local community in the school office area. Please do stop by to chat to them about this , pick up a leaflet and support our campaign for cleaner air! Design and Technology week Next week is D&T week at NNA. The children will be working on a variety of projects which will be shared with families in the coming weeks. Attendance Focus Week Congratulations to Year 2 Garnet class for achieving 99.6% attendance this week! Punctuality Matters too! Missed minutes = missed learning = missed opportunities! Being frequently late for school adds up to lost learning: Arriving 5 minutes late every day adds up to over 3 days lost each year. Arriving 15 minutes late every day is the same as being absent for 2 weeks a year. Arriving 30 minutes late every day is the same as being absent for 19 days a year.
