Markers and Landmarks
Quick Reference Guide
Overview
Every Telogis Fleet account has an administrator. The administrator can see all the vehicles,
drivers, and markers belonging to the account, and has full authority to perform any action,
such as creating fleets and teams, adding drivers and markers, assigning drivers to vehicles,
creating reports, and so on. This quick reference guide will cover setting up Markers and
Landmarks in Fleet.
Markers are landmarks are physical locations that are important in your daily business
operations. They are categorized into Marker Categories which identifies the location or
landmark type, such as a customer location, home base, prohibited location, etc. The Marker
Categories screen enables you to create, view, and edit marker categories.
How to Access:
Navigation bar > Tasks > Marker Categories
Finding Your Way Around the Marker Categories Screen
The Markers Category screen is where you create,
configure and delete your markers. As you create new
markers, they’ll be added to your unlimited list of marker
categories. Use the Properties Tab to configure how the
category appears on the Map and in reports for easy
and quick identification and use the Permissions Tab to
control who can access the marker category.

Properties Tab
The Properties tab offers the ability to name a category and
control how the cateagory is represented (icons & colors)
on the Map and in reports. (See image 1 below for example of
viewing the Yards marker and corresponding vehicles on the map)

Enter a new name for the category.

Select a category icon for the market. This icon will appear on the map and lists for markers in this category.
When a vehicle is within the radius of the marker category, it will take on the icon of the marker.
Select a color that is used as the background of all events in the History details list where the vehicle
is stopped at a marker in this category.
Select a color that is used as the background for all entries in the Vehicles list where the vehicle is stopped at
a marker in this category.
Select a color that is used to highlight entries in reports when a vehicle is stopped at a marker in this category.
Check the Show only markers owned by the viewing user if the category can be available to multiple
users, but each user sees only those markers in this category that they own. Markers in this category always act
like private markers, although the category itself can be either public or shared.

Permissions Tab
The permissions tab gives you the ability to specify who
has access to the category and what they can do with it.

Filter Field
Enter all or part of a user name into the Filter field to filter the list of users.
Only show users
with access
Select checkbox to filter the list of users so that it lists only those users who currently have permission
to see the category.
Available to all
users (Public)
Select to make the category public. Rights for working with public categories are granted to users using
the user dialog.
Item Rights

Select the level of rights the selected user has for working with the category definition.
Member Rights
(Privileges for markers
in the selected
category)
Select the level of rights the selected user has for working with markers in the category.
How to Create a Marker Category
1. Select the Create Icon.
2. Enter a new category name in the Create Dialog Box.
3. Select an icon for the new category by clicking the Change Button and selecting an icon.
4. Choose a color identifier by selecting the dropdown for History Color, List Color, Report Color and Map Color. Optional
5. Select the Only show markers owned by the viewing user checkbox. Optional
6. Click Save.
