TERROIRS:
CACHAPOAL
ANDES VALLEY
The Cachapoal Vineyards are located
just upon the foothills of the Andes
Mountain, which means they are
exposed to a large thermal oscillation
between night and day. These are
perfect conditions for producing
concentrated wines: The grapes ripen
one or two weeks later than usual, and
the local wind helps to keep the vines
healthy, resulting in the production of
the best-possible fruit.
Two wines of the portfolio are from
other terroirs which are located in the
Elqui Valley 29º 59” 32’ S – Kankana del
Elqui and Penahue located in the Maule
Valley 35º 21” 04’ S – Tierras Moradas.

winemaking projects around the world.

Winemaker of Grandes Vinos de San Pedro
Gonzalo has been part of Viña San Pedro’s winemaking team since August 2010 and since 2013 he has been
in charge of the winemaking of Grandes Vinos de San Pedro.
During his three years with these outstanding wines of Cachapoal Andes, Castro has been involved in many
investigations done in the vineyard to improve the terroir work, reflected in the prestigious wines.
This includes the new irrigation strategy, which implemented different systems for the diverse terroirs
and longer irrigation periods to reach deeper in the soil. As well as the terroir work using macro-terroir
identification research where they discovered 7 different soil types in the vineyard.
Grandes Vinos of San Pedro’s Winemaker earned his degree as a Winemaking Agronomy Engineer from the
Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and has dedicated his life to winemaking since his first job.

ALTAÏR
CABO DE
HORNOS
SIDERAL
Altaïr is our brightest star, the finest and
purest wine of Grandes Vinos de San Pedro.
Originating from the foothills of the Andes
Mountains in the Cachapoal Valley, the exact
composition of this Cabernet Sauvignon
based blend varies from one vintage to the
next to best express its particular terroir.
Cabo de Hornos, the meeting point of the
Pacific and Atlantic oceans, inspired the
creation of this iconic wine in 1994. This wine
is an exceptional representation of Cabernet
Sauvignon elegantly blended with Syrah and
Malbec. Cabo de Hornos is hand crafted with a
New World vision and philosophy, all the while
maintaining its classic roots.
Sideral is an imaginative red blend that opens
the door to Grandes Vinos de San Pedro
portfolio. The five varietals cultivated at our
vineyard located in the Cachapoal Andes Valley
are blended in varying proportions, giving this
wine a unique personality for each vintage.

SUSTAINABLE
WINEGROWING
Living Soil Philosophy
Sustainability is a crucial element of VSPT Wine
Group’s strategic plan. For this reason, since 2009
we have been working on the concept through our
specific, robust project, the 360° Sustainable Program.
We strive to identify all aspects and opportunities for
improvement, in order to become an agent for change
as well as to harness a threefold positive impact
economic, social and environment for the company.
In the context to raise awareness about biodiversity,
the sustainability program developed an nature path
to be incorporated in the foothills of the vineyard
surrounding Grandes Vinos de San Pedro.
The nature path is a methodology that implements
a new approach focused on individuals who wish to
lean about the conservation areas of the vineyard
and its biodiversity issues, conservation biology and
sustainable management within the territory of the
vineyards.
Consequently, we have incorporated sustainability into
everything we do and we take all relevant subjects into
account when making decisions: the environment,
suppliers, clients and customers.
In our 360° Sustainable Program, our areas of operation
are orientated towards 4 pillars:
1.Environment
2. Water Measurement and Management
3. Social Commitment and Wellbeing
4.Quality
