After years of dedicated research, MASQUELIER’s® has put into practice
a complex and highly effective that measures all components of their
OPCs complexes. The ability to recognize the exact elements within
MASQUELIER’s® OPCs ensures they always consist of the same,
effective OPCs and are of the absolute highest quality.
Professor Masquelier’s original OPCs are the CPA quality control
benchmark for every batch of MASQUELIER’s® OPCs. This ensures
all MASQUELIER’s® OPCs are consistent with Professor Masquelier’s

The brand MASQUELIER’s®
MASQUELIER’s® OPCs – ahead of the rest
60 years of scientific research and development
MASQUELIER’s® is the legacy of Professor Masquelier, after a lifetime of research, discovery
and development. His dedication to the scientific and nutritional relevance of OPCs as a vascular
health nutrient for everyone, led him to nurture and develop several OPCs based products.
OPCs vary in quality, makeup and efficacy. Just as all cars are not the
same, OPCs are not all the same. Cars vary in power, componentry and
quality, as do OPCs. However, while it is a relatively simple matter to
tell the difference between one car and another – just look under the hood
and take it for a test drive – OPCs, because of their size and construction,
are much more difficult to compare and measure.
Professor Masquelier and MASQUELIER’s®
In the late 1980s he developed a partnership with I.N.C. upholding his rigorous standards
of optimum quality and efficacy. With Professor Masquelier’s full support and experience,
the MASQUELIER’s® brand was born.
MASQUELIER’s® is Professor Masquelier’s assurance of quality
As OPCs became commercially produced, Professor Masquelier experienced disappointment
at witnessing his ground-breaking discoveries become watered-down versions of his original
research and vision. By partnering with I.N.C. to create MASQUELIER’s® “OPC Originals” and
providing regular guidance concerning their manufacture over a period of almost 30 years,
he was able to ensure that his legacy would continue in its most potent and authentic form.
MASQUELIER’s® OPCs Authenticity
Continuing the work of Professor Masquelier
To ensure the highest levels of quality and consistent health benefits, all MASQUELIER’s® ingredients
undergo Complex Phytonutrient Authentication (CPA), one of the world’s most accurate quality
control methods, providing you with a science backed, guarantee of quality.
The manufacture and isolation of MASQUELIER’s® OPCs
is a highly specific and complex process. With 60 years of Professor
Masquelier’s specialized expertise in this field, MASQUELIER’s®
has developed unique and precise measures to ensure the
quality of their products.
Are all OPCs the same?
Due to manufacturing and other variances, there is a wide degree
of variability between the composition and biological value of the
many OPC products found on the market today. When reading
the multitude of labels, it would be easy to believe that OPCs are
a single element, like vitamin C. However, OPCs are made up of a
combination of elements that each contribute individually and react
collectively to form an effective phytonutrient complex. If the specific
combination of elements in a complex is changed or varies, then
the product’s efficacy is also affected.
Marking the difference for the benchmark of quality
CPA measures the composition of each batch of OPCs against
a specific marker. The marker is the benchmark for all future
batches to match. The benchmark for MASQUELIER’s® OPCs
is the exact same composition as Professor Masquelier’s original
OPCs. This ensures all MASQUELIER’s® OPCs are consistent
with Professor Masquelier’s discoveries, research, original
medicinal products and their 60 years of proven product
specific health benefits.
How to identify the difference between OPCs
The best approach in specifying OPCs is to detect, isolate
and measure all of its individual components. However the time
and cost involved in doing so, makes this financially inviable for most
companies for batch to batch analysis. As a result most
OPC products on the market utilize less specific methods.
Distinguishing MASQUELIER’s® OPCs from the rest
CPA uses a combination of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance
spectroscopy (NMR) and Principle Component Analysis, which
not only ensures batch to batch consistency, but can also distinguish
MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs from ordinary grape seed extracts
and imitation “OPCs”.
Commonly used, cheaper OPC analysis methods*
Less specific methods for example, do not differentiate
between smaller OPCs molecules and larger OPCs
molecules. Professor Masquelier identified these larger OPC
molecules (polymeric procyanidins or tannins) as having little
to no health benefits.*
NMR is a high precision, analytical technique which provides detailed
information on the exact nature of biological and botanical products.
It examines molecules at a nuclear level, scanning the atoms they
are made of. It detects thousands of resonance signals from all
nuclei in all components of a natural complex, producing a complete,
peak-pattern or spectrum – its unique and complete ‘fingerprint’.
Effective quality control
– Complex Phytonutrient Authentication
After years of dedicated research, MASQUELIER’s® has put
into practice a complex and highly effective process that measures
all components of their OPCs products. Known as Complex
Phytonutrient Authentication (CPA) it uses one of the world’s
most accurate quality control methods. The ability to recognize
the exact elements within MASQUELIER’s® OPCs ensures they
always consist of the same, effective OPCs complex and are
of the absolute highest quality.
NMR fingerprints of MASQUELIER’s® products are made on every
batch of MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs. Using a highly complex
“pattern recognition system” called Principle Component Analysis,
all similarities and differences between the fingerprints are scanned
and compared. Because all components are examined, Complex
Phytonutrient Authentication can distinguish OPCs products on
the basis of their total composition.
CPA is an effective way of being able to consistently guarantee
MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs unique composition and efficacy.
* For this reason, MASQUELIER’s® removes the larger OPCs molecules and only contains the smaller effective OPCs. Only the use of their highly specific, proprietary method of production
and measurement can ensure MASQUELIER’s® OPCs’ well-known consistent composition for safety, bioavailability and efficacy.
