Nursery Newsletter September 20th 2016

Weekly update and nursery news – 20 September 2016
This week we are celebrating: Jeans for Genes Day
Project for the month: Autumn
Value for the month: Sharing
This week we are learning about:
Hatchery
This week we are creating autumn coloured pictures using cocoa powder and
shaving foam, and using the leaves we have collected to do some printing too.
Ducks
We will be using red and green lentils to pour into and out of various
containers using scoops. We will also be creating an autumn tree, and
decorating it using scrunched up foil and corks, and painting with our hands
and feet. We will be practising our fine motor skills during these activities.
Preschool
Down at the treehouse we have been learning about the life cycle of a
butterfly and looking at the different insects we have found, ladybirds,
caterpillars and beetles, and painting pictures of our autumnal surroundings.
Nursery news
Beaker request
We actively encourage the children to drink water throughout the day while at
nursery, as well as at snack and meal times. The children in the Hatchery
have filled, individually named beakers available throughout the day to sip
from. If your child has a ‘special’ beaker that they would be more likely to
drink from, please could you bring one into nursery for us to use while they
are in our care.
Preschool improvement project
The redecorating work is continuing well in Preschool and the School Ready
Rooms and the children seem to be really enjoying their temporary relocation
to the treehouse and forest school. We’ll keep you posted on progress and let
you know as soon as the work is complete and they can move back.
Staff update
We are currently in the process of recruiting 2 new fully qualified staff
members due to an influx of new children joining nursery, along with a new
Deputy Manager. This is in addition to Georgia, our new temporary nursery
assistant, who is working in the Hatchery alongside our permanent staff to
undertake some of the more domestic chores to ensure that staff remained
focused on caring for the babies at all times.
We are also moving some of our existing staff to new base rooms, to even up
numbers as we have far too many staff in Preschool having just lost 20
children to school this year. We’ll write out to you shortly to confirm your
child’s key person, if we haven’t done so already (these won’t change
wherever possible) and also send out a new ‘family tree’ of nursery staff so
you can see where everyone is based.
Nursery Accounts
Invoicing and Direct Debit payments
We have recently completed our financial year end at the nursery and
following this we need to make amendments to the way we invoice and collect
our direct debit payments.
Invoicing
Our invoices will move from our current software package to our SAGE
accounting system, this means your invoices will look different and on receipt
you will also receive a statement. You will no longer need a password to open
your invoice and will receive a pdf document with any notes or payment advice
information attached to the email.
Direct Debits
We currently raise our invoices between 21st & 23rd of each month and collect
our direct debits on 1st day of following month. We have been advised that to
keep our accounting clean and tidy, the payment needs to be collected in the
same month as the invoice is raised and therefore we need to move our direct
debit collection date to a couple of days earlier on the 30th of the month. This
will start from September invoice which is due to be raised on 21st of
September with direct debits being collected on 30th September. If this date is
inconvenient we can offer you the option of paying your fees by bank transfer
or cheque. At this current time, we are unable to offer any other dates for
direct debit payments.
Jeans for Genes Day
It is Jeans for Genes day on Friday 23 September, so we are inviting all the
children, parents and staff to come to nursery wearing their jeans, for a
donation of £1. We will be having a blue theme all day, baking and decorating
cakes, putting posters and pictures around our rooms. For more information
about Jeans for Genes, you can visit www.jeansforgenes.org.
