The SMACC experience begins long before the conference starts, with a
registered delegate function on the website that allows you to become part of
“smacc-networks”. The networks cater to academic, social, artistic, sporting
and lifestyle interests and are aimed at bringing delegates together. Utilising
dating site technology you can find new friends from the world-wide critical
care community who share your interests. You may want to talk shop or to get
a group together to perhaps visit a museum, go for a run together or go to a
Chicago Cubs game.
Once you check into The SMACC Hotel, Sheraton Towers, you will
immediately be drawn into the SMACC festival experience. The preconference workshops will be held at the Sheraton and it will be an offcampus SMACC hub with daily bus transfers to McCormick Place.
Finally registration for the conference is fully inclusive of all coffee breaks, lunch
and both the Welcome Reception and the Gala Dinner. This will create ample
time to network with colleagues and soak up the atmosphere.
The SMACC Gold Conference in 2014 not only brought together a diverse
group of critical care practitioners (Emergency Physicians / Intensivists /
Anaesthetists / Rural and Pre-Hospital Specialists / Critical Care Nurses and
Paramedics) it united the biggest names from FOAM websites from around
the world.

Clinical teaching in the resuscitation environment is
different than the wards or the classroom. This interactive
workshop will present evidence from the emergency
medicine and resuscitation education literature organized
into a simple and usable framework. (But don’t worry, all
statisticians will be barred entry.) Audience polling, video
scenarios and small group discussion will be some of the
instructional methods used. By the end of this session,
participants will be able to: (1) list the top ten bedside
teaching mistakes, (2) describe and use an efficient
teaching framework for the resuscitation environment,
and (3) develop a teaching script.

Registration Desk
The registration desk for SMACC Chicago 2015 will be located on the Level 2
of the Lakeside Center opposite the entrance to the Arie Crown Theatre. The
registration desk will be open for the duration of the Conference and the staff
at the registration desk will be happy to help with any queries. Registration for
the Pre-Conference Workshop day will take place at the Sheraton.
SMACC ID
Each delegate will be given a SMACC ID at registration. This will be the official
pass to sessions, breaks, lunches and social functions. It is necessary for
delegates to wear their SMACC ID at all times when onsite.
Credit Cards
Credit cards accepted at the registration desk are MasterCard, Visa and
American Express. The majority of hotels, restaurants and shops will accept all
major credit cards.
Insurance
As you will be incurring considerable expense when attending this conference,
it is strongly recommended that you take out an insurance policy of your

Cancellation Policy
Student Registration Includes:
All cancellations or alterations should be put in
writing to the SMACC Chicago 2015 Secretariat.
If cancellation is received in writing:
We are offering 250 student places for $350.00 for
the 3 day conference – this does not include tickets to
the Welcome Reception or Gala Dinner. At the time of
registration students must supply a copy of their current
certificate of enrolment.
Full Delegate Registration Includes:
• Entry to all conference sessions taking place from
Wednesday, 24 June 2015 – Friday, 26 June 2015
• Entry to the exhibition & ePoster area
• Morning/afternoon teas and lunches during the
conference
• Admittance to the Welcome Reception and Gala
Dinner (additional tickets to all social functions can be
purchased for guests)
• Pocket Program
• By 23 April 2015 – USD$100.00 cancelation fee
will apply
• Between 23 April – 22 May 2015 – 50% of
registration monies paid will be refunded
• After 23 May 2015 – no refund on monies paid
