2020 Vice President

Class of 2020
Candidates for Vice-President
Julianna DeSalle – Griffith Gaillard – Brandon Hickey –
Jennifer Pozzani – Derek Rodriguez – Hunter Ross –
Matthew Salazar
My name is Griffith Gaillard and I am running for Vice President. I am in Victor Company from Chapin, SC.
I am a Mechanical Engineering major pursuing an Air Force contract. I am also
a member of the Citadel Lacrosse team.
I believe I am the best candidate for 2020 Vice President because:
I. I was a Captain of the Lacrosse team in high school and learned valuable
leadership and organizational skills that I could carry on from High school to
college.
II. As a son of a graduate and growing up around this school, I am dedicated to
making this a better campus and I am willing to do what it takes.
I would like to see the following changes during my time here such as:
I. Return the Corps back to the Cadets. We do not have representation in what
goes on here and we should since we are paying for it.
II. Incentives for higher PT scores for example, if you get a certain PT score on
the CPFT then you do not have to go to PT on Mondays or Mondays and
Thursdays.
My name is Jenn Pozzani and I am a rising sophomore in Mike
Company. I am a Business Administration major with a minor in
Biology and Spanish.
As Vice President, I’d like to…
1. Work with the other classes and regimental staff to create
PRACTICAL training schedules (i.e., no mandatory sporting events
during the week)
2. Have more pep rallies/field day events during stressful times such
as midterms, finals, and inspections
3. Advocate for healthier mess options at the mess hall.
4. Work with local businesses for a Citadel student discount (i.e.,
College Laundry, Kickin’ Chicken, Coastal Climbing)
Most importantly, I’d like to let the CORPS run the CORPS and help
set the example for classes to follow.
My name is Derek Rodriguez. I am a rising sophomore in India Company. I am a double major Political
Science Subfield Intelligence and Spanish.
I believe I am the best candidate for 2020 Vice President. I would like to get to know
people and plan on learning as many people as I can during the duration of my time as
Vice President. I am most intrigued by the ability to work with Citadel President Lt Gen
John Rosa, Commandant of Cadets CAPT Geno Paluso as well as other campus vice
presidents from other classes. I have big ideas for our class to work on out of company
bonds as well as strengthening our unity to be the next line of principle leaders as we
progress. If I had to state, the things I would like to see would be the following
changes while we are still in school. The change in the atmosphere of classes outside of knob year. As well as
the policy of the 4C system becoming stronger in the idea of becoming more challenging and forcing class
unity in the right way. Another concept to look at in the future would be propose new class privileges that
would allow for students to …
Hello Class of 2020,
My name is Huntor Ross and I am running for the 2020 Vice President. I am a Mechanical Engineering
major with a 3.31 GPA and I am currently a rising sophomore in Golf Company. I believe I can be the best
candidate for Vice President because:
1.
I became an Eagle Scout my junior year of high school and I gained
experience in planning and project management. This achievement shows
my ability to set long term goals and to persevere to achieve them. These
skills will enable me to help our President create fun and rewarding
activities that as a class we can participate in.
2.
In 2016, I was awarded the Certificate of Meritorious Service because
I graduated high school with 521 service hours. Serving others brings me
tremendous fulfillment. I am excited to serve the needs and desires of the
Class of 2020.
3.
In high school, I employed a disciplined, regimented training
program for wrestling; a sport I was fairly new too. As a result of my tireless
training, drive and motivation, I placed 3rd in the state for freestyle. This
qualified me to compete in the Fargo Cadet Nationals representing the
Maryland National Wrestling team the summer going into my junior year. It
is this drive and persistence that I will use to when supporting the ideas of the Class of 2020.
As Class of 2020’s Vice President I would like to do the following:
1. As a class I want to create more rewarding events such as: dances where we fundraise for a specific
organization, service projects around our community, and bringing in nationally recognized speakers
to present to our class.
2. I want to create more comradery throughout all the class by holding events such as beach days, going
to concerts, and cookouts.
3. I want to improve cadet life through improving the mess hall, trying to undo the tobacco policy, and
working towards having less mandatory events on the weekends.
Hello class of 2020. My name is Matthew Salazar, I am a rising
sophomore from Palmetto Battery.
I am running for Vice President for the class of 2020 to ensure that next year
our class has a real voice and will be heard during the meetings with the
commandant and his staff. As Vice President I, will make sure that whoever is
voted President of the class will be held accountable and will make decisions
that are in the best interest for the class of 2020. Bottom line is I don’t want to
see us being taken advantage of as a class next year and will do everything I can
to make sure the right decisions are made for the class of 2020, not just the
popular ones. You have my word that I will do my best to work with the
President to make sure real changes will happen next year for the class of 2020
that will be beneficial for all of us. Thanks for your time!
