Y3 - St John`s Primary School Redhill

21st March 2014
Dear Parents/carers,
Today the children participated in a variety of sports activities to help raise money for Sport
relief; these included cross country, parachute and Tag rugby. They all worked very well and
supported each other.
In literacy this week the children have learnt about performance poetry, they looked at 2
different poems, The School Kids Rap and Ten Tired Teachers. They worked very hard to
improve their performances using props, actions and mime; their final performances were
outstanding!
The maths focus was mass, measurement and capacity. The children learnt to read scales,
convert weights from grams to Kg, convert measurements from centimetres to metres,
millimetres to centimetres and learnt to record these using decimals.
As part of their topic work the children created a picture of their field sketch from Pulborough
Brooks using pastels, these look very good and will be turned into a display that you can see
when you can look at your children’s work on Wednesday 2nd April.
Have a lovely weekend.
Kind regards
Miss Pankhurst and Mrs Campbell
