COLORADO COLLEGE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION An Act to Reform the Heads of State Representative CCSGA Position BE IT ENACTED BY THE COLORADO COLLEGE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 Preamble: WHEREAS The Colorado College Student Government recognizes an interest in representing the groups that make up the Heads of State via maintaining two positions for Heads of State Representatives, & WHEREAS those two Head of State Representatives are intended to represent all Heads of State groups and to foster connection between that body and The Colorado College Student Government Association, & WHEREAS The Heads of State Representatives position also entails the more general responsibility of serving as a conduit between the concerns of students and the administrative services that can address them, & WHEREAS a portion of this responsibility involves developing and communicating an understanding of Colorado College’s administration to students and student groups, & WHEREAS the institutional knowledge needed to effectively understand Colorado College’s administration is best acquired through a multi-year commitment to acquire it and/or by the diffusion of knowledge across many different Representatives, & WHEREAS Heads of State groups have many interests served by Heads of State Representatives accumulating administrative knowledge over many years, & WHEREAS The preservation of institutional knowledge among the Heads of State necessitates the creation of additional positions for Heads of State Representatives particularly among upperclassman, & WHEREAS the current voting formula for Heads of State Representatives of ½ a vote for each Representative does not serve any substantive purpose and undermines the effectiveness of those Representatives, SECTION 1: Section 3.03 f. of the CCSGA Constitution shall be amended BY STRIKING AND REPLACING THE SECTION to read: “f. Three Heads of State Representatives, selected by the Heads of State as a group prior to the first CCSGA meeting. There shall be one sophomore, one junior, and 38 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 46 one senior Heads of State representatives. Each Heads of State Representative receives one vote in Full Council” SECTION 2: Section 8.03 a. of the CCSGA Constitution shall be amended by STRIKING THE SECTION SECTION 3: This legislation shall go into effect after passing CCSGA Full Council using amendment procedure and being approved by the President of Colorado College.
