24pp, folio. An impressive score deserving of revival, including
Rosse’s once-famous “Doge’s March.” [Five numbers were
recorded in 1921, which has been reissued on a 2002 CD.] This is
the only copy we’ve seen of the score, with a handsome illustration
of Arthur Bourchier as Shylock. Rosse (1867-1940) was Lillie
Langtry’s godson, and Frederick Delius’s roommate when they
were studying in Leipzig. He enjoyed a long successful career as a

Red soft cover binding with brass clips. Worn. “Machinal”, which
premiered in 1928 at the Plymouth Theatre in New York, is a
scalding work about a naïve woman’s affair, the murder of her
husband and her journey to the electric chair. It was based on the
true-life crime and execution of Ruth Snyder, whose gruesome
execution was secretly photographed. The title page notes the
theaters the play premiered in, including the Plymouth in NY, the
Garrick in London and the Kamerny in Moscow…………$300.00
