ORDINATION DEACON DOUGLAS BARRETT
Mr. Douglas Barrett is presently doing his Pastoral year in preparation for his ordination to the
priesthood at Mary Queen of the World, will be ordained as a Deacon at Mary Queen of the World
Church on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul the Apostle at
7pm. Come and celebrate this joyous event with Archbishop Martin W. currie, Archbishop of St.
John’s presiding. Reception to follow in the parish hall with tea/sandwiches/cookies. Everyone
welcome.
WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY
A Worship Service is being held at St. Pius X Parish, Sun. Jan. 22nd at 3pm marking the 500th Anniversary of the
Lutheran/Protestant Reformation. Bishops Martin W. Currie (Catholic) and Bishop Geoffrey Peddle (Anglican
will give the joint homily.

We are all stewards – managers of the many gifts God has
bestowed upon us. Our challenge as Christians is to make
good use of those gifts. “Happiness lies more in giving
than in receiving.”(Acts 20:35) In our daily lives, we
manage our family and work responsibilities. But to
become occupied with these important matters to the
exclusion of the need of others outside our home or work,
is a mistake we could carry into eternity.

YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY EVENTS
AND PROGRAMS There are many opportunities in our
Archdiocese for youth to get involved with the church, learn
more about their faith and meet other young people. Youth
groups, youth conference, evenings of prayer, bible studies,
catechesis, social events and opportunities to volunteer just
to name a few! Activities for youth from grades 6 – 12 and
we will be adding some events for Grades 4-6 as well as
adults interested in being involved with youth ministry. If
