Know the differences between compact bone and spongy bone. Know the parts of a bone such as epiphysis, diaphysis, etc. Know the different types of cartilage found in the body. What hormones play a role in calcium levels in the bloodstream. What hormones control bone growth during the different stages of life. Know the divisions (axial/appendicular) of the skeleton and what bones belong to them. Know the three types of abnormal spinal curvatures. What is so special about the hyoid bone? Know the sutures of the skull. Know the classification schemes for joints that are outlined in your notes. Be sure to also know examples for all the different types of joints. Know all the differences between all the three muscle types. Know the skeletal and smooth muscle contraction scheme outlined in your notes. You need to know the steps and what the functions of things such as actin, myosin, troponin, tropomyosin, etc. are. Know what is meant by origin and insertion of a muscle, and know what they are for the masseter and platysma muscle. Know all the functions of muscle tissue. Know what synovial fluid is.
