PRAYER & WELCOME - Prayer for Direction and Guidance 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Approval of Minutes as circulated. Approved by: C. Groh. Seconded by: C. Britton-Foster. 1. Discussion on Birds, Bees and Beyond. We had a good parent representation. Thank you. Fil will find the handout outlining the changes for in each grade. TO DO. 2. 3. Discussion regarding EQAO results. Focus on improving numeracy school wide. Specific data can be pulled upon request. BUSINESS ARISING FROM MINUTES (a) Penny Sales requires Lottery License. Discontinue. Profits $331.00. (b) Gift basket donated by the Lettieris raised $650.00. (c) Tea sales earned $644.00. Money will be allotted as follows: School Council coffers (trophies, awards, scholarships) Equipment for recess Church Children’s Liturgy (with Frolick input) (d) Christmas Concert comments. Missing Mr. Ucci’s input. (e) Air Quality Testing. Staff will be asked if this is a concern. $150.00 $344.00 $150.00 4. SCHOOL ACTIVITIES REPORT (sports, events, etc.) – Mckenzie Ryan – Student Rep (a) Volleyball - Girls placed 1st at East District tournament and 3rd in the Board level tournament - Boys did not place in the Board level tournament - Comments to Mr. Lettieri that the teams had grit and were hard-working. (b) Basketball Try-outs - Discussion regarding the value of cutting players/try-outs. Junior team does not cut players. (c) MeMoves Meditation - done after 2nd nutrition break. The entire school participates. Born out of the Well Being Committee. Look into Brain Gym (Rebecca’s suggestion) (d) Student Council Update - School council wants to plan more activities regarding spirit wear. Perhaps students wearing spirit wear can buy stuff at a bake sale. - Planning a New Year’s Dance. (e) GLS - Grade 8 program has all but two students participating. 5. CHOCOLATE BAR DRIVE - No pressure to sell. Profits are very good and fund field trips such as Science North, maple bush and Toronto. Perhaps have incentive such as duct taping principal to the wall for highest selling class? 6. MATH ACTION PLAN - Motion to purchase Dreambox ($3200.00 CAN.) license for one year out of standing account. (Owl/Groh Carried Motion). 7. WELL BEING COMMITTEE - Goals to be discussed at next meeting. 8. FEAST DAY FEBRUARY 11TH - School council members, traditionally provide a flat of rice krispies and volunteers help out. Please put on your calendar – SCHOOL COUNCIL TO DO. 9. REPORT CARDS - Will be out to parents on February 18th 2016. New term start date is February 1, 2016. Parent teacher interviews will be offered to all families with certain meetings requested by the teacher directly to the families. 10. KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOMS - Kindergarten classrooms will have an 8 foot opening between classes. (Cost to be paid by school board) - Amalgamation plans are on hold until further notice from the school board 11. 2016/2017 SCHOOL CALENDAR - Calendar consultation for next year can be completed on Survey Monkey. Fil will send out. 12. SCHOOL POLICY - School Policy revisions will be circulated in Term 2. Discussion on school safety and parents staying in the Welcome Area and not going down the hallway. 13. NEW BUSINESS a) Spirit song going to be videotaped by Chi Media and played at beginning of school assemblies. b) New spirit wear sweaters available. CSC Members are welcome to purchase. c) Code Math Resource d) Input question box in every classroom. Fil will discuss this with staff. NEXT MEETING: February 25, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.
