Picture Book Bingo Fridays, July 6-August 10, 2:00-4:00 p.m. Dix Hills & Melville All ages welcome Join us for fun and prizes at both Library buildings. Just match the pictures from your favorite story books to win prizes. A great game for emerging readers and preschoolers. So—if you love Bingo, you won’t want to miss a week. No registration is required. Younger children may bring an adult to help them. CSIs Young Teen Club (Grades 6 & up) June 25 - August 11 The evidence is indisputable. There are amazing discoveries to be made this summer at the library. Join the CSIs and enjoy good books, great programs, prizes and fun for all. Superslueths (Grades 1-5) June 25 - August 11 Children who complete their contracts will receive a ticket to the Daffy Detective Squad on Wednesday, August 29, 11:00 a.m. or 7:00 p.m., at the Dix Hills building. This is a zany ventriloquist puppet show with comedy illusions, music, audience participation and a cast of hilariously daffy puppet detectives. Registration is ongoing. (Kindergarten must be completed.) Gumshoes (Birth-5 years) June 26 - August 11 Join the Gumshoes, after you list one book on your baby’s reading record, you will receive our baby kit, Baby’s First Steps. Children who complete the four-book minimum requirement are invited to Brady Rymer’s unique musical show on Tuesday, August 21, 7:00 p.m., at the Dix Hills building. Brady sets classic and contemporary children’s stories to music. Children and parents are invited to sing, play and dance along with shakers and scarfs to Brady’s rocking renditions of children’s tales. Erik’s Rainforest Ed-ventures Tuesday, July 17, 7:00 p.m. Dix Hills Ages 4 & up Get ready for an amazing Ed-venture. The always entertaining and informative Erik Callender will take you on a tour that highlights live animals from four major biomes. Each ecosystem will be represented by live reptiles, amphibians, birds or bugs. Art of (π) Pie Perils Of Packing Tuesday, August 7 7-8:00 p.m. - Dix Hills In this math baking activity, we will practice our pi-making skills. Teens will make fruit pies and then discover that the pies they eat are measured by their diameters. Registration begins July 24. For the high school graduate who’s college bound, pick up a copy of this guide and assembling gear will be a snap. Locker Mirror Thursday, August 9 7-8:00 p.m.- Dix Hills Spruce up your locker by designing your own mirror. Registration begins July 26. Kids & Teens Wind Chime Craft Tuesday, July 24, 4-5:00 p.m. - Dix Hills Ages 3-8 years and Grades 6 & up Children will make a craft with teen volunteers. Teens will earn Community Service Credit. Registration begins on July 10. You may register your child in person or by phone, 421-4530 (Dix Hills) or 421-4535 (Melville). All programs are age appropriate; please abide by the age and grade restrictions for each program. Please be considerate of the performer/instructor and arrive on time. We will hold your spot for 10 minutes past starting time. If you are registered or have tickets for a program and are unable to attend please let us know so we may call another from the waiting list.
