Landmark Club Presents Cowboys, Native American & Oil Barons September 29-October 3, 2014 ___________________________________________________________________________ Day 1-Monday, September 29 Today we travel across southern Missouri to Oklahoma. The Sooner State is one of the most culturally diverse states in America. It is home to more Native American tribes than any other state. Oklahoma also boasts some of the largest cattle ranches in the country as well as numerous world champion rodeo cowboys. Oklahoma is also one of the leading oil producers in the US. We will stop in Vinita to visit the Eastern Trails Museum featuring American Indian and pioneer artifacts as well as memorabilia from World War I and World War II. We will continue to Tulsa and check into the Hardrock Casino Resort Hotel for the next four nights. A buffet dinner is included tonight. (D) Day 2-Tuesday, September 30 After a wonderful buffet breakfast we will head to Sallisaw to visit Sequoya’s Cabin. This log cabin dates back to 1829 when Sequoyah developed a syllabary that gave the Cherokees a written form of their language. Then we travel to Muskogee to visit Ataloa Lodge Museum showcasing more than 20,000 artifacts collected from tribes throughout the country. We will also visit the Five Civilized Tribes Museum. The culture and history of the Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek and Seminole tribes are on display here. Return to Tulsa for the evening and a buffet dinner at your leisure. (B, D) Day 3-Wednesday, October 1 We will start our travels today with a visit to the unique Nut House before heading to Cherokee Country. Here we will be treated to a guided tour including tribal capital at Tahlequah. We will also see the Female Seminary. At the Heritage Center we will learn more about the Cherokee culture and the Trail of Tears. We step out the back door of the museum and into the Ancient Village where we will see life as it was for the Cherokees before the arrival of Europeans in America. Lunch is included today along with a Cherokee storyteller. This afternoon we visit the Gilcrease Museum, one of the country’s finest facilities for the preservation, study and appreciation of American art and history and its formidable collection of art from the American West and South America. Dinner is on your own tonight. (B, L) Day 4-Thursday, October 2 Bartlesville will be our destination today to see the Conoco Museum dedicated to Oklahoma oil Industry and one of its founders, Frank Phillips. Then we are off to see Woolaroc Ranch. This sprawling former home of Frank Phillips highlights the culture and legacy of the American West. As we make our way back to Tulsa we will visit the Dog Iron Ranch. This is the birthplace of Oklahoma’s favorite son, Will Rogers. We will also visit the Will Rogers Museum. In Claremore we visit the JM Davis Arms Museum featuring over 20,000 firearms. Some of the weapons on display were owned by famous outlaws of the Old West. As we travel back to Tulsa we will stop to view the Golden Driller statue. The 76-foot tall statute is dedicated to the men and women of the oil industry and is the tallest free standing statue in the world. Tonight we will enjoy a farewell dinner at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar Restaurant with our group. (B, D) Day 5-Friday, October 3 This morning we will visit the Garden Diva as seen on HGTV and stroll through the many garden sculptures. From there we depart Tulsa and begin our journey home.
