The course is relatively flat, through beautiful parks and the streets and tunnels of Paris. It’s one of the biggest marathons in the world with an expected +/- 50,000 entrants. There is a 6 hours cut off time; no qualifying races are required however a medical certificate from your doctor before the race entry is accepted. A fun 5km Breakfast Run usually takes place the day before – together with thousands of fellow runners it is a great way to warm up for the big day. Accommodation Our 4* accommodation is located in the centre of Paris, opposite the Seine River and a short distance from the Eiffel Tower. It has two restaurants, a bar, indoor pool and fitness room. Bedrooms have the usual facilities: air conditioning, flat-screen TV, fridge, safe, en suite bathroom with hairdryer and free WIFI. Our accommodation has easy access by foot or Metro to all the romantic and historic sights of Paris. Flight prices change daily and are subject to availability. The sooner you book the better the price generally. We can check and advise flight prices at the time of your inquiry. Is Travel Insurance essential? How much is it? Travel Insurance Consultants has strongly recommended that you purchase travel insurance cover for the duration of your journey. It is also a requirement for the Schengen visa. Premiums and Terms and Conditions are available on request. For families or groups a reduced premium can apply – please ask for more information. Can I purchase race entry only? We do not sell race entry only; it is sold together with flights/accommodation booked through us. Can I extend my stay? Yes. Extra nights at our hotel in Paris can be booked subject to availability at the following costs. +/- R 1565 per person per night sharing a Double or Twin room +/- R 3000 per person per night occupying a Single room +/- R 1520 per person per night sharing a Triple room (1 double bed and 1 sofa bed) Can I purchase my own accommodation and buy race entry and air tickets only? Yes you can. Please ask us for a quote. How do I enter the race? Just book your travel package with us, together with your Guaranteed Entry for the Paris Marathon. Do I need to run for a charity? No. There is no requirement to run for charity, but some people use this race as a great opportunity to raise money for a worthwhile cause. What is the minimum age to participate and do I need to qualify for the Paris Marathon? Minimum age is 20 years old. No you don't, walkers and runners of all speeds are welcome. Cut off time to receive a medal and finish is 6 hours after the official start time (currently scheduled for 8.45am). What can I expect upon arrival in Paris? Airport transfers are not included in the package. Details and guidance on various transport options and costs will be sent out with final documentation nearer the time. Please note that the earliest you can check in at the hotel is 15h00, however the hotel will store luggage for you if you arrive before this time. What can I expect from my hotel room? Double room has 1 Double bed (maximum 2 people in the room) Twin room has 2 Single beds or 1 big bed and 1 sofa bed (maximum 2 people in the room) Single room has 1 bed (maximum 1 person in the room) Triple room has 1 big bed and 1 Sofa Bed (maximum 3 people in the room) Do I need to register in Paris prior to the race? Yes. You must pick up your race number in person at the Expo before race day. Details and guidance on various transport options and costs will be sent out with final documentation nearer the time. How do I get to the race start and back to the hotel after the race? Metro (journey time +/- 20 to 30 minutes) or +/- 45 minutes’ walk Is this trip guided? No. probably not. It will be dependent upon sales and group size so a decision will be made nearer to the event. Do I need a passport and visa? Yes you need a full valid passport. South African passport holders require a visa for most destinations abroad, including France. Travellers need to apply directly to the consulate and at their own expense.
