Year 2 Homework project This half term out topic is “Famous Five”. This is a history based topic where we will explore the lives of five famous people, namely Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole, William Caxton, Neil Armstrong and LS Lowry. Below is a selection of activities for you to carry out with your child to enhance their learning around this topic. You can choose which activities you are able to complete at home, please don’t feel that you have to complete them all, but of course you can if you wish! A family member will be invited into school on Wednesday 15th Februaury and the children in Year 2 will share their work with you and their friends. Certificates will be issued for projects completed by Friday 10th February and returned to school. For Friday 13th January For Friday 27th January For Friday 10th February 1. Write a description using interesting adjectives of an Alien from space. What is his/her name? What do they look like? Draw a picture of your alien. 1. Draw a rocket using 2D shapes, colour it in and give it an outer space background. 1. Research another famous person who helped people with medicine. 2. Write an email/letter to William Caxton, the inventor of the printing press, and tell him about all the ways we communicate now in the modern world. 2. Teach someone in your family The LS Lowry song “Matchstalk Men & Matchstalk Cats & Dogs” Song. 2. Design and make a junk model space ship, rocket or an ambulance.
