An organization’s ontology – or its subset: taxonomy, thesaurus – describes
the objects that are essential to its business (e.g. products, regions,
projects, …) and their relationships. Luxid® Webstudio helps manage an
ontology while simultaneously governing how its objects are recognized
by Luxid®’s semantic enrichment pipeline. A collaborative web application,
it offers simple and user-friendly interfaces, ensuring an efficient user
experience.
With Luxid® Webstudio, users can upload a representative
corpus and preview in real time how their ontology gets applied to it.

Thanks to its contextual menus, its intuitive navigation tools, auto-completion
and drag-and-drop ergonomics that are uncommon for this type of
application, Luxid® Webstudio enables its users to complete common
ontology management tasks with only a few clicks: create object classes,
attributes and relationships, import your thesaurus, create new objects,
move or delete them, and customize their attributes (hierarchy, synonyms,
relationships,...). Users facing multiple projects of the same type can get
started immediately thanks to templates that configure all key parameters
accordingly. Capable of managing even large ontologies, Luxid®
Webstudio also includes a search engine and filters that help locate the
right concept quickly. Accessible through a simple browser, requires no local
installation and virtually no maintenance, Luxid® Webstudio is the ideal tool for
distributed teams wishing to collaboratively maintain a shared ontology.
Enabled by a continuous and seamless synchronization of the
semantic enrichment pipeline with the ontology, this mechanism helps
evaluate in real time the semantic enrichment quality that can be
achieved based on the ontology. This function highlights possible false
positives (potentially caused by ambiguous terms) as well as silences
(linked to the high variability of language), thus enabling the quick
adjustment of the ontology, for example by adding synonyms or by
choosing more relevant extraction strategies (for example leveraging context).
This helps ensure the ontology can be quickly improved to match target
semantic enrichment quality expectations.

Thanks to its integration with the Luxid® enrichment pipeline, Luxid®
Webstudio is also able to identify relevant business objects that are
mentioned in your corpus but are not yet part of your ontology, so you can
consider adding them in. This facilitates and accelerates the maintenance
of the ontology - and it’s a great starting point when creating a new one.
Building a Content Recommendation Engine that provides highly relevant
suggestions in even specialized domains can be a challenge. That’s
why Luxid® Webstudio provides a convenient workspace that enables
you to upload your corpus, setup enrichment workflows producing rich
semantic fingerprints, preview content recommendations and adjust your
recommendation strategy from the same interface.
The suggestions function is able to leverage any TEMIS Skill Cartridge®,
for example to target more precisely certain specific types of business
objects if necessary (names of people, of companies, of locations, as
well as opinions, or drug side effects for example). Luxid® Webstudio
also provides for each term in the ontology, possible synonyms based on
Wikipedia knowledge.
Combining your ontology with relevant other Skill Cartridges® and adjusting
a variety of boost, exclusion and threshold parameters, enables you to
successfully focus recommendations on any dimension of your subject
matter and reach highly relevant results. A single click is all it takes to
publish it to production, making it available to your CMS, Portal, or Website
as a REST API.
