CHESS NEWS
The All Saints Chess Team competed in the March Check with Tech tournament at Frenship Middle School on Saturday, March 25. Katie Bubany (PreFirst), Jess Gaines (4th), and Hayden Hillin (4th) faced some stiff competition as they represented All Saints. Katie, competing in her first tournament
ever, won two of her four matches! Jess and Hayden, competing at the rated
level, earned the 2nd Place Team trophy. Congratulations to Katie, Jess, and
Hayden, and thank you for a great job representing All Saints!
The Chess Club would love to have additional players – please join us in the
library from 3:30 – 5:00 on Thursday afternoons, and for tournaments – usually every other month. If you cannot attend one of those times due to other
conflicts, but would like to play, please let Chaplain Paige or Mrs. Long know,
and they will let the coaches know. There is an online program as well!

MOCK TRIAL STATE RESULTS
Your Patriot High School Mock Trial team are the reigning Region 17 Champions. Advancing to the State Mock
Trial Competition, our team competed against schools
with enrollments of more than 4,500 students. According
to coach Billy Don Hampton, “We won the first round
and completed very well throughout the entire competition. This was the perfect saga of David going up against
Goliath.” Hampton continued, “We may not have won
state, but every team that went up against us walked away
with a few stone bruises.” The ASES Mock Trial team is
comprised of: senior Lena Tello; juniors Anna Arnett,
Natalie Chaudhuri, Sajan Dihenia, Sarah Going, Hannah Hays, Ava Moran, Raymond Rider, and Alexandra Shropshire; and sophomore Susannah Bumstead. The
team’s attorney advisor is Charles Chambers. Congratulations, Mock Trial trailblazers!
LIBRARY NEWS
“Birthday books” is an old and honored All Saints tradition. A donation is made to our library in honor of a student’s birthday by parents or grandparents. A book appropriate to his or her age and interests is selected, and a
plate with the child’s name and grade is placed in it. The lucky honoree is the first to check this book out. We
received birthday donations for Claire and Caroline Brooks (PK) and Jana Shabaneh (4). Thank you so much!

MIDDLE SCHOOL TACOS & TIE DYE
The afternoon of Wednesday, April 12, Middle School students will enjoy Tacos & Tie Dye. This event is
an All Saints tradition, sponsored by the Middle School Student Council. Those who place a food order
with me will enjoy a beef and chicken taco lunch in the Commons area.
After lunch, students will take their turns tie-dyeing a new All Saints spirit t-shirt and playing dodge ball.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email or call me. Thank you!

COLLABORATIVE ORCHESTRA CONCERT
Who: Bishop Dunne High School and All Saints Episcopal School
What: Collaborative Orchestra Concert
When: April 5 at 2:30pm
Where: Kirby Commons
Why: in spirit of friendship
All Saints Orchestra to host collaborative concert with Bishop Dunne Catholic School of Dallas
On April 5, All Saints Episcopal School Orchestra will host a collaborative concert with the orchestra from
Bishop Dunne Catholic School of Dallas, TX. The Bishop Dunne Orchestra Director, Ms. Julia Graylion,
and Dr. Adolph Salinas, All Saints Orchestra Director, have been in contact since before spring break exchanging music and thoughts regarding this concert.
The collaborative concert will feature Bishop Dunne High School students, as well as All Saints orchestras
from 3rd grade through middle school. Both schools have been learning each other’s repertoire for the past
week, and will continue to pull double duty until concert day. This a true test of talent and will, as both
schools have their own concerts coming up.
Ms. Graylion and Dr. Salinas both feel that this concert will be beneficial to students in many ways. We are
so often used to competing against other schools, that this becomes an opportunity to open our hearts and
share our talents for a common good. Because of this, both teachers have unofficially titled this concert
“Friends Coming Together”.
The concert will be open to the public, and All Saints Orchestra would like to extend and invitation to all
who would like to attend.
For more information, please feel free to contact Dr. Salinas via e-mail [email protected]
THIRD GRADE SWIMMING
One of the favorite memories of many former Patriots includes swimming
in the third grade. This time honored tradition is well underway. On
several Tuesdays and Thursdays, a gaggle of excited swimmers has been
heading to Bodyworks. There, students learn swimming techniques as
well as general water safety. Remaining swimming dates are: April 4, 6,
11, 18, and 20. Splish, splash and thank you to the third grade teachers for
facilitating this adventure!

COACHES CORNER
TENNIS AND TRACK
Spring is upon the athletic department which means that MS & HS
kids are spread out all over the state competing in several different
sporting events such as golf, tennis as well as track and field.
Middle School Golf opened their season with a victory at the St.
Andrews Invitational in a cold and rainy Amarillo on Tuesday.
Alex Bilodeau (8) was overall champion and the winning team was
composed of: Jackson Morris (8), Preston Schmid (8), Alex Bilodeau (8), Graham St. Clair (8) and Ayden Allen (7).
High School Boys Golf captured the TAPPS 2A Regional championship and will advance to state later
in April. Jackson Drake (9) tied for first place overall and lost a thrilling playoff on the second playoff
hole for top seed heading into state. The members
of the boys qualifying team were: Jackson Drake,
Colten Cannon (11), Tyler Logan (11), Will Wilkinson (10) and Bracy Estes (10). Ally Muzyka (11)
got 3rd place overall on the girls side and qualified
for her third state tournament. Syriah Flores (10)
also qualified for her second state tournament for the
girls.
Middle School Tennis opened their season with a fantastic day at Midland Trinity winning 25 matches
to Midland Trinity’s 5. The MS match against Southcrest last week was postponed due to wind and
dust, but they will pay Thursday, March 30 at the Burgess Rushing Tennis Center with 7th & 8th grade
matches starting at 3:00. 6th grade matches will start at 4:00 pm after school.
High School Tennis will begin their journey to
return to the TAPPS State Championships later
in April by competing in the TAPPS 2A North
Division Regional tournament in Dallas tomorrow. The girls are defending TAPPS 1A champions and they return all of their state qualifiers
from last year. The High School boys team also
return four players with state tournament experience. Stay tuned for regional results.
Middle School Track had a great day last Tuesday in Levelland with more than 30 kids competing. Charlie Robinson (8) had a fantastic
day medaling in all 5 events in which he competed. His results were 1st in shot put, 3rd in discus, 3rd in high jump, 2nd in the 100 meters and 1st
in the 200 meters. Ross Rogers (8) was 3rd in the 2400 meter run and Reese Rogers (7) was 2nd in the
high jump and 3rd in the long jump.
The high school track team also competed in Levelland with tough weather and a tough 4A field and
Brett Berger (11) came away with 3rd in the high jump.

All Saints finished first in the elementary division with 515 points and first in the middle school division
with 628 points. With this great showing, All Saints will have 37 students representing the school in 54
contests at the state meet at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth on Saturday, May 6.
The PSIA district meet could not have been successful without the tremendous support of the All Saints
community. In order to hold this event, we needed to provide more than one hundred volunteers to act as
contest directors, judges, and graders. We also provided a concession stand throughout the day for guests
as well as a hospitality room for volunteers. Thank you once again to all the teachers, parents, and high
school students who took time on Saturday to help run this wonderful event. Patriot volunteers made all of
the difference in the success of the district meet!
We look forward to the state competition at TCU in May!
MUSIC UPDATE FROM MRS. CAMERON’S CLASS
Things are hopping in music this spring. Preschool through First grade are finished with their grade level
homily music offerings, but we have some additional opportunities to show off our musical skills. First
grade will sing on April 7 during their Trip to Washington, D.C. and again at the All Saints Teacher Reunion in May. Kindergarten is working on their songs and dances for the Cinco De Mayo Fiesta on May 5.
Kindergarten and Pre-First will perform their First Grade, First Grade song on May 17 as a chapel music
offering. Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten are having much fun learning their cowboy songs for the Tricycle Rodeo on April 21. Parents will be receiving more information about these musical happenings as
the dates draw nearer.

Exploration Art!
Acceptance is on a first come first serve basis. Camp will run Monday through Friday, from 12:30 through
3:30 pm. The cost will include all materials and a t-shirt to print on. This is for students who will be
entering grades 5th through 8th grade.
The week will end with an art show and small reception on Friday at 3:00 pm. Family and friends will be
encouraged to come. Remember to wear clothes that can get dirty. Art is messy! Students are free to
bring their own snack or drink. This program requires students to be self-disciplined and have the ability to
work independently. It is for students who are interested in exploring the visual arts through various
techniques and mediums.

SWING FOR
THE FUTURE
GOLF TOURNAMENT
ANNOUNCEMENT
Did you know we have a
parent at All Saints that has
played professional golf the
last 10 years, earned player
of the year on the web.com
tour and competed on the
PGA tour? If you didn’t
know ... it is not surprised.
He has a great talent and is
humble nonetheless. With
all the ego in professional
sports, it is nice to meet
someone who is kind and has
a giving heart.
J . J .
Killeen
is
a
“local
boy”
t h a t
gradua t e d
from
Coronado High School in 2000.
He won the Texas 5A state
championship and went on to
play at TCU where he was an
All American. He is now the
Managing Partner and Director of Golf at 4ore!, which is
scheduled to open in the next
couple of months. How exciting for our Lubbock community!
We have only 10 team spots that remain in our Swing for the Future Tournament! In addition to a fun day
of golf, you will have an opportunity to have J. J. play on your team. He has agreed to be auctioned off to
the highest bidder at the upcoming Swing for the Future Golf Tournament along with 2 VIP passes to the
Opening Party for 4ore!
