Dear Parents, Welcome back to a very busy Term 4! I trust that you have all had a relaxing break. My name is William Delves, I am an Industrial Arts teacher and I will be taking over the Year 8 Year Adviser role from Sophie Forsterling as she has taken maternity leave. For any students who may not be aware of where to find me, my staffroom is at the bottom of B Block, directly opposite B1. This Term we have our Year 8 Camp which will be held at The Tops Conference Centre in Stanwell Tops. The camp is in Week 9 and students will be away from Monday 30th November – Wednesday 2nd December. All permission notes and a $50 deposit is due back by Friday Week 2 (16/10/15). Final payment is due Friday Week 5 Term 4 (6/11/15). This will be the final date for payment as we need to confirm numbers with the venue. The camp is a wonderful opportunity for our students to engage in a range of activities, developing their resilience and strengthening bonds with their peers through teamwork. I understand that not all students are able to attend the camp for a variety of reasons and if this is the case then these students are required to attend school and appropriate work and supervision will be provided. If any students have not yet received a permission note can they please see me ASAP or alternatively you can download it from the school website. Year 8 will also have their final assessment period in Week 3 this term. Each faculty will have a different assessment format and teachers will notify your child of the assessment requirements as the date approaches. Please ensure your child is preparing for their exams and putting aside time for study. It has been a wonderful year so far and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the students as an assistant year adviser. I look forward to the opportunity of meeting with many of you throughout the rest of the year. I am sure that Term 4 will be a rewarding and successful conclusion to a great year! If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact me, either by email.
