Library Foundation Executive Director

The City of Bismarck and The Library Foundation, Inc. are accepting applications for the position of
Library Foundation Executive Director
for the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library until midnight, August 4, 2014.
The Library Foundation, Inc. is seeking an individual with experience in fundraising,
development activities, and public relation skills.
This is a part-time position with a flexible start date and flexible hours.
Responsibilities: Develop The Library Foundation, Inc.’s donor base and growing the level of financial support both for
operating and endowment needs. Plan, organize and prioritize tasks to meet established goals. Take the initiative to solve
problems in a manner that builds rapport and trust with donors and that is compatible with the mission of the library as a
public institution. Manage the Foundation Office located inside the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library. Work
with a 22-member board of directors and six standing committees to meet the Foundation’s mission of “enriching
publicly-funded Library services by raising private funds to enhance collections, resources, and facilities.”
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Minimum three years of progressive experience in fundraising or public
relations.
Salary range: $24-$28/hour based on qualifications and experience. This is a part-time position of 20-25 hours per week.

The Library Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1976 as a 501 (c)(3) that raises private support for Bismarck Veterans
Memorial Public Library. Gifts through the Foundation helped the Library:
• Establish an Endowment Fund in 2001 that stands at $1.2 million
• Renovate the Children’s Library, which opened in late 2009
• Provide annual grants and gifts for various Library projects
