THE RULES
Running and Walking - 4 x 5km (Total of 20km)
Start: 14:00 - Finish: 18:00
1. TEAMS AND TEAM CATEGORIES
a. There will be four basic categories: Men (consisting of
4 men or 3 men and 1 woman ), Women (consisting
of 4 women), Veterans (consisting of 4 participants
over 40 of either gender), Mixed (consisting of 2
women and 2 men or 3 women and 1 man).
b. Teams will consist of four members each doing one
leg. A team member can, however, participate for
more than one team, as long as it is one leg per team.
c. All four members must belong to the same
organisation, club, school, etc. Each team member
must be a bona fide employee, employer, club
member, scholar, etc. prior to date of race. Regarding
only the corporate categories, exceptions to the rule
can be made and is listed in 1(d) and 1(e).
d. Organisations participating under the corporate
categories with fewer than ten (10) employees are
entitled to join forces with another organisation in
the same trade, also employing not more than ten
(10) people, in order to make up a team of four (4).
In such cases the name of the organisation that has
the most participants in the team must appear on the
entry form.
e. Rule 1(d) also applies to people engaged in professional
practices e.g. doctors, attorneys, accountants,
architects and engineers, who do not qualify to enter
teams as per rule 1(c) above and are invited to enter
teams comprising of persons engaged in the same
profession, but not employed by the same company/
practice/organisation.
2. CORPORATE CATEGORIES
a. All teams must qualify in terms of the business
categories listed on the entry form. Organisations
(listed or not) must enter the categories applicable
to the nature of their business and not individual
departments or job functions. Team captains will be
consulted in such cases.
b. The education category: This category is for employees
only and NOT for students. Students enter under the
OPEN category and scholars/learners under SCHOOL
categories.
3. OPEN CATEGORIES
a. This is for non-corporate teams such as sport clubs,
business clients, churches, family and friends.
b. Participants compete in the three basic categories.
Men, Women and Mixed Teams. Rule 1(a), 1(b) and
1(c) apply for the composition of such teams.
4. SCHOOL CATEGORIES
a. All team members must belong to the same school
and must be younger than 19 and older than 9 years.
All four members must be boys or girls as combined
(mixed) teams are not allowed in this category.
5. ADDITIONAL RULES FOR RUNNING AND WALKING
TEAMS
a. Members for running teams may walk, BUT members
of walking teams MAY NOT run.
b. Walking teams will participate under the general
rules of road walking and running teams under the
general rules of road running. It is each participant's
responsibility to be familiarised with these rules.
c. Walking or Running teams will start and end on the
grounds of Trustco United Sport Club. Please see
“The Route” on Page 3.
6. FOOD AND BEVERAGES
We would like you to support this fundraising
initiative by pre-ordering your food and beverages for
your hospitality site.
Braai packs and drinks can be pre-ordered from
[email protected] on or before
Monday, 2 September 2013.
7. DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES
Monday, 2 September 2013, before close of business.
8. REGISTRATION
The registration of all teams will be done at Trustco
United Sport Club, Esther Brand Street in the Tent, on
Friday, 6 September from 14h00 to 19h00.
9. PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY
Time:
18h00
Venue:
Trustco United Sport Club
All participants will receive a finisher's medal. Winners
in the different categories will receive a gold or silver
medal.
After the prize-giving event there will be entertainment by
well-known artists. During the daytime there will be an
entertainment area for kids.
The full programme and additional information will be provided to the registered teams.
