AMPIPLUS® SIMPLEX Menarini GENERIC NAME Ampicillin COMPOSITION Capsules “250”: Ampicillin 250 mg. Capsules “500”: Ampicillin 500 mg. Suspension “2.5%”: Ampicillin 2.5 g. Suspension “5%”: Ampicillin 5 g. Injection “500”: Ampicillin 500 mg (as sodium salt). Injection “1000”: Ampicillin 1 g (as sodium salt). INDICATIONS Infections caused by gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria susceptible to ampicillin; infections to the respiratory, urinary and biliary tracts; gastrointestinal infections; venereal diseases. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION Adults: respiratory infections: 250-500 mg every 6 hours; urinary and biliary infections: 250-500 mg. every 6-8 hours; gastro-intestinal infections: 500750 mg every 6-8 hours; typhoid and paratyphoid fever: 1-1.5 g every 6-8 hours; gonorrhea: 1 g every 4-6 hours. Children: up to 5 kg body weight: 200 mg/day; 5 to 25 body weight: 25-50 mg/kg/day; over 25 kg body weight: same dosage as per adults; doses should be subdivided every 4-6 hours. SHELF-LIFESTORAGE INSTRUCTIONS Shelf-life: capsules 3 years, syrups 2 years, injectables 3 years.
