You can have music class
every day with these fun
do-it-yourself musical
instruments!
TISSUE BOX GUITAR
Tools and Supplies
• Empty tissue box (rectangular)
• Glue
• Empty paper towel roll
• Pencil
• Rubber bands (3-4)
• Scissors (and a grown-up to help!)
Step 1: Find a grown-up to help cut out the cellophane from the tissue slot; this will make it easier to strum.
Step 2: Use your marker to trace the paper towel roll on one of the the small sides of the tissue box,
and have a grown-up help cut out the circle on the box.
Step 3: Insert the paper towel roll into the hole, about two inches.
Where the box meets the roll glue the tube in place and let it dry.
Step 4: Decorate your guitar.
Step 5: Add the strings. Stretch rubber bands lengthwise around the box
and over the tissue slot. Roll a pencil under the rubber bands on the side
opposite the guitar’s neck, and you are ready to play!
TIP: Rubber bands
with different
widths will create
different sounds!
