Lesson #3 title: PART 3 = MEASURING REFLEX ANGLES
Date:
THROUGH-LINE: Beauty – creating
Beauty is seen by classifying, estimating, measuring, drawing, & labelling the differences between acute, right, obtuse, straight & reflex angles.
OUTCOMES:
1. Determining angle measures in degrees by measuring, using a protractor, given angles in
various orientations.
2. Classify a given set of angles according to the measure (e.g. acute, right, obtuse, straight, reflex).
3. Provide examples of angles found in the environment.
MATERIAL NEEDED: highlighters, pencil, blue pen, double scale protractor
Example #1: These are all REFLEX ANGLES. Find the measure of each angle in degrees.
For EACH angle, do THREE things: (remember to EXTEND the lines of each arm
of the angle so that you can properly ‘read’ the protractor!)
1. Using a protractor, determine the measure of each angle in degrees (o).
2. Name the TYPE of angle.
3. Name something ‘in your world’ that has about this size of angle.
Example #2: These are all REFLEX ANGLES. Find the measure of each angle in degrees.
So what is different about a REFLEX ANGLE compared to the other 4 angles?

YOUR TURN 
For EACH angle, do TWO things: (remember to EXTEND the lines of each arm
of the angle so that you can properly ‘read’ the protractor!)
1. Using a protractor, determine the measure of each angle in degrees (o).
2. Name the TYPE of angle.
