Editor’s Corner…….
See you at the Round Up
It’s that time of year. The famous Las Vegas Roundup is this
month; Thanksgiving weekend, Thursday through Sunday at the
Riviera Hotel. If you have never been to the Round Up, do yourself a
favor and go this year. It’s an experience you will not forget and will
most likely repeat many times.
I had the opportunity many years ago, at the urging of my first
sponsor, Judy A, to be of service at the Round Up. She was CoChair, and Chairperson in the years I was involved; I had 2 years of
sobriety. It was an eye opener and heart filler at the same time.
I remember at one Sunday Spiritual Meeting, during the Sobriety
countdown, the youngest was a man who had been sober 4 hours
and two men with 51 years each were the oldest. When the two with
51 years were left standing, the question was asked of each, “what
month”? One said April and the other said November. The oldest
one, with the April birthday said to the other, “newcomer”; the room
exploded with laughter. The man with 4 hours was asked to go up
front to accept a Big Book from the man with 51 years. The man with
4 hours said he’d had a bad night and called the hotline that morning.
The hotline volunteer who answered the phone asked if he wanted to
go to a meeting. He said sure, expecting a few people to be there.
He never expected a room full of 4,000 recovering alcoholics. There
were many of us in the room with tears in our eyes at the miracle of
this program and how it works when the 51 year old gave the
newcomer with 4 hours a Big Book signed by most of us in the room.
I think of this newcomer often and wonder if he made it…..if he’s still
sober. I sure hope so, but most likely I’ll never know.
If Central Office did not exist, if the hotline was not answered
that young man mentioned above didn’t stand a chance.

This is a story I included in the November 2013 newsletter. At last
year’s Roundup, I overhead a man in the Archives room repeating
this story to another. It’s so gratifying to know that people actually
read these stories and like them enough to pass them on. Thanks so
much for letting me be of service.
Step Eleven
Sought through prayer and meditation to
improve our conscious contact with God,
as we understood Him, praying only for
knowledge of His will for us and the
power to carry that out.
Tradition Eleven
Our public relations policy is based on
attraction rather than promotion; we
need always maintain personal
anonymity at the level of press, radio
and films.
Concept Eleven
The trustees should always have the
best possible committees, corporate
service directors, executives, staffs, and
consultants. Composition, qualifications,
induction procedures, and rights and
duties will always be matters of serious
concern.
Spirituality
A clear light seems to fall upon
us all – when we open our eyes.
Since our blindness is caused by
our own defects, we must first
deeply realize what they are.
Constructive meditation is the
first requirement of each new
step in our spiritual growth.

WIT AND WISDOM FROM THE ROOMS
I get drunk, we stay sober
First it was fun, then it was fun with problems, then
it was just problems
I came down because I could no longer get high
You can take the drink from the drunk, but you can’t
take AA from the alcoholic
In spite of a very small inner voice warning me that
this kind of chaos could not be good, I didn’t know
how to stop it
We are bonded together by not being dead
It’s happening to me because it’s my turn
When I’m supposed to know the reason this
happened, God will tell me
I can’t know how to handle a situation until I get to
handle it
The consequences of anger are always worse than
the cause
Trying to control your drinking is like playing a game
of chess against yourself, you’re gonna lose either
way
I have to be careful to talk to God more than people
about my problems
I must be GOD dependent rather than IN dependent
Tradition Eleven: Our public relations policy
is based on attraction rather than promotion;
we need always maintain personal anonymity
at the level of press, radio, and films.
1. Do I sometimes promote AA so fanatically
that I make it seem unattractive?
2. Am I always careful to keep the confidences
reposed in me as an AA member?
3. Am I careful about throwing AA names
around—even within the Fellowship?
4. Am I ashamed of being a recovered, or
recovering, alcoholic?
5. What would AA be like if we were not guided
by the ideas in Tradition Eleven? Where would I
be?
6. Is my AA sobriety attractive enough that a sick
drunk would want such a quality for himself?

Declaration of Unity
This we owe to A.A’s future: To place our common welfare first; To keep our fellowship united. For on A.A. unity depend our lives, And the lives of those to come .
If I’m not the problem, there is no solution
Just because something hurts doesn’t mean it isn’t
good for me
My cup wouldn’t be only ½ full if others would stop
sipping out of it
Happy BirthdAA and Congratulations to
Everyone Celebrating One Day at a Time in
NOVEMBER!
You don’t “find” happiness, you carry it with you
I need to make sure the voice in me that says taking
a drink is a really good idea is quieter than the one
that says go to a meeting/stay sober/call another
alcoholic
If you have heard “words of wisdom” in the rooms,
send them to [email protected]
to be used in a future issue. Thanks
If you have an NOVEMBER sobriety celebration,
donate an amount equal to your sober years to
Central Office….Imagine if everyone did!

Seeing much of each other, scarce an evening passed that someone’s home did not shelter a
little gathering of men and women, happy in their release, and constantly thinking how they
might present their discovery to some newcomer. In addition to these casual get-togethers, it
becomes customary to set apart one night a week for a meeting to be attended by anyone or
everyone interested in a spiritual way of life. Aside from fellowship and sociability, the prime
object was to provide a time and place where new people might bring their problems.

Robert from District 5 is starting a new project for the
Archives. He will be visiting meeting rooms and

be wonderful. We will have a binder on display titled
"If these walls could talk"
11th Step Promises:
One of the greatest rewards of meditation is the
sense of belonging that comes to us
We no longer live in a completely hostile world
We are no longer lost and frightened and
purposeless
Remember if you have any old AA memorabilia or
anything Area 42 related we would love to have it
In Love and Service, Rhonda
“Don't throw anything away”
The moment we catch even a glimpse of God’s will,
the moment we begin to see truth, justice and love
as the real and eternal things in life, we are no
longer deeply disturbed by all the seeming evidence
to the contrary that surrounds us in purely human
affairs.
We know that God livingly watches over us
We know that when we turn to Him, all will be well
with us, here and hereafter

Want to remind everyone the Traditions are to groups as Steps are to individuals, so please respect and adhere to the Traditions. We get calls about Groups
not following Traditions and that can be raised at the Group business meeting. We do have a Unity committee that can talk to them, but we’re not the A.A.
police. Traditions exist for a purpose and we have several publications available: ‘AA comes of Age’ which is a history on how Traditions came to be and why
they were created; the pamphlet ‘How the Traditions Developed’ by Bill W.; and the ‘12 Traditions Illustrated’. Copies are available here. Pamphlets we can
give you but we have to sell the book! Thanks everyone for coming out in the rain, especially Tom from Searchlight. Alfredo asked about status of A/C repair.

Other Committees are welcome.
Hotline Billy reporting: We will have Hotline calls coming through table at Roundup that weekend and will need volunteers. We always need people to answer
the phone; it’s a once a month commitment and calls are forwarded to you. We have 5 open slots so please announce to your groups and friends we always
need volunteers, especially for the 8 p.m.-8 a.m. shift. Groups and Districts can volunteer and organize taking turns for the monthly shift. My number is 702493-8529 for anyone who wants to volunteer. Email is [email protected]. Monthly meeting is on Intergroup Monday, at 6:30 in the back room here.
