A GIANT EXPERIENCE
Whales of Iceland is the largest whale exhibition
in Europe, where guests can learn about these
giants of the sea in an interactive and
modern environment.
This year-round exhibition features lifesize models of 23 whales, all of which
are found around Iceland’s coastal
waters. What better way to experience
the immensity of these majestic
creatures than by walking amongst
our full-scale models?
Our exhibition features a life-size
model of a blue whale, which
is roughly the length of a
basketball court.

Sperm whales can produce the loudest
sounds in the animal kingdom. Their sonar pulses can
reach up to 223 dB under water, which is equivalent to
160 dB in air - louder than a jet during take-off (140 dB).
Sounds over 120 dB are painful and harmful to human ears.

Migrating humpback whales feed off
their own fat during winter and only
eat in the summer.
Of all the animals that have ever lived,
the blue whale is the largest. It grows
as long as three schoolbuses and
weighs as much as 150 tonnes - that’s
heavier than 150 small cars.
