Walking tour covers key milestones in the history of Tralee
from early times but most especially the last 200 years of
Tralee Town history. The meeting point is Craft Makers,
37 Ashe Street and includes a tour and introduction to the
Victorian building and its historical footprint in the town of
Tralee. The tour returns for hot toddys at Craft Makers or
tea and crumpets at Chopin’s Cafe. Our tour guide for the
evening is Grace O’Donnell and tours depart at 5.00pm,

‘WELCOMING THE STRANGER’

Welcoming the Stranger following its huge success at Féile
Fáilte comes to Siamsa Tire to perform this heart-warming
and moving dance piece with a cast of 25 performers
(dancers and musicians) set to live music. Welcoming the
Stranger looks at the notion of welcoming & integrating
‘the other’ into our community and spans a myriad of
dance and music forms including African, Irish, Syrian &
Palestinian rhythms and performers. This dynamic and

This performance tells the story of Kerryman Monsignor
Hugh O’Flaherty’s war time exploits in Rome. The play
focuses on O’Flaherty’s struggles as he and his colleagues
set about the task of protecting those in need from the
German occupancy of Rome. Performance of “God Has
No Country” written and performed by Donal Courtney.

Máire Holmes is Kerry County Council’s Writer in
Residence 2016. She will give a brief talk on the aim of her
new residency to make an hour long radio programme
based on the writings of Kerry people during the residency.
Spanning 1916 - 2016 the topics will have many layers;
historical, emotional, aesthetical, sporting, creative or
spiritual. This introduction to the residency will be followed

there was construction of Lighthouses, Napoleonic Era

and the World War II Lookout Posts. Our rich history
