MANCHESTER
SHIP CANAL CRUISE
Duration – approx. 6 hours. From April to October
Manchester Ship Canal Cruises are extremely popular for group day trips
in England’s Northwest. Your group will enjoy a fascinating 6-hour,
35-mile journey along this famous waterway on an iconic Mersey Ferry.
The cruise includes a live commentary giving a revealing insight into
the facts, history and dramas of this major waterway. We’ll tell the story
of how the canal shaped the city of Manchester and the North West of
England as it sails through locks and bridges that have remained largely
unchanged since their construction over 100 years ago.
When it comes to the direction of travel the choice is yours, so start your
trip at Salford Quays; or at the opposite end of the route from either
Seacombe, Wirral or Liverpool, Pier Head. Once you have finished your
day of cruising we’ll return you to your point of departure by dedicated
coach transfer. Alternatively you can arrange to drop your group at the
departure point and then collect them at the other end of the canal
6 hours later. On most of our cruises there’s also an additional opportunity
to enjoy a 2½ hour stopover before we return your group by coach.
Tourism Experience of the Year 2016 Liverpool City Region
HOP ON, HOP OFF”
Duration – 30 minutes
For ‘time short’ groups traveling by coach, visitors can ‘hop on & hop off’
the River Explorer Cruise at each terminal and combine their trip with
other destinations like Chester, Wales and other attractions in Wirral.
•
•
Your coach drops off your group at Liverpool Pier Head, who then
take the River Explorer Cruise for 30mins – disembarking on the other
side of the river at Woodside, where your group will meet your coach.
After the coach has dropped off your group at Liverpool for the
cruise. Your driver can take the coach through the Mersey Tunnel*
and collect passengers from Woodside Ferry Terminal, Birkenhead
and continue the tour.
*Tunnel toll applies.
