Minotaur struts across the stage in big
open strides (the movement again, will
be more effective if choreographed and
in slow motion). Theseus is standing in

him.
Scene Five
When the lights are up Theseus and Ariadne are in the labyrinth. It is very important that the teacherdirector, together with the students come up with a clever "solution" to staging a labyrinth. An idea would
be to light different areas of the stage separately, but also, choreographed repetition of movement will
be instrumental to sustaining the ii/I.Jsion. That is, Theseus may be seen crossing the same stage areas
over and over again, as if moving fn circles, apparently getting nowhere. Sounds of exasperation, gasps
of breath, etc. could also intensify
the feeling
of claustrophobia and helplessness one gets in a maze.
