Bridges to College will provide the necessary tools to transition successfully into college-level study. New Morning and Evening classes beginning early January 2011! Classes meet Mon., Tues., & Wed. mornings from 9:00am - 1:00pm or Mon., Tues., Wed., & Thurs evenings from 6:00pm—9:00pm During this 15-week program, you will Prepare for college level math, reading, and essay writing by learning test taking skills, sentence structure, and more. Improve your scores on the Accuplacer college placement test, so you can start in regular college-level courses. Learn study skills and time management. Come to an Information and Testing Session to see if Bridges to College is right for you! If yes... What if my scores are too low? We will refer you to other programs to help improve your English or math. You can apply to Bridges to College again in the future. Am I interested in a career in health care or information technology (IT)? Do I have time to attend Bridges to College classes at JVS 3 mornings a week (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) or 4 evenings a week (6 p.m. to 9 p.m.) for four months (the same length as a college semester)? If yes... What if I do well on the English and math tests? We will give you the Accuplacer English and math tests (the same test you will have to take for all Massachusetts community colleges). You will also have an interview with the Bridges to College staff. You will be asked to submit a letter of recommendation. Can I stay for the entire class every day (no leaving early)? If yes... Do I have time to do weekly homework from 3 classes– English, math and study skills? Then what happens? If we’re sure you have the English and math ability, enough time to study, motivation & commitment to be ready for college, you will start the Bridges to College classes on January 3, 2011. If yes...
