2-Digit Numbers Criteria After much discussion with regard to the 2

2-Digit Numbers Criteria
After much discussion with regard to the 2 digit numbers for A Grade riders, MX Management has
implemented what they believe to be a fair process for all riders.
It had previously been recognised that to obtain a 2-digit number a rider had to earn this right.
This process has lapsed and is again being implemented with the following having been discussed at a
working party meeting, to devise a criteria that meets this fairly, for all riders.

Determine a process for the two digit numbers in A grade to be managed
Criteria on who should have a two digit number
Newly graded riders do/have they earnt the right for one of these
Recognise riders who have been supportive and have a three digit number, giving preference to a 2
digit number
Introduce career numbers for recognized riders holding a Victorian number and removing these
from the numbers list
The following decisions are placed within the MX Management Policy & Procedures Manual and it is
noted that this is in place for 5 years before it is reviewed by the MX Management committee at that
time i.e. 2021.
The criteria is:
 Eligibility to remain holding a 2 digit number will remain as is currently – a rider is required to
complete two rounds of the Victorian Titles each year
 Riders who having been graded to A Grade Senior will be allocated a three digit number initially, and
maintain this for 2 years
 Riders who have been supportive of the Victorian titles after that 2 year period will be able to
request or be offered a two digit number
 If a rider within this time obtains a seeded number within any year, dependent on availability, has
earnt the right to request a two digit number
 Two-digit numbers are only on hold for a seeded rider during the year they may choose to run their
seeded number
 A number may only be on hold for 12 months other than the above reason if a rider is injured (with
proof of a doctors certificate),or exceptional circumstance will be reviewed as presented
 A rider is required to advise the numbers person by round two of the titles if they are not riding the
titles and supply the relevant information. This means that there is no end of year congestion
because they failed to do so
 A riders’ licence that has expired by 6 months will automatically lose their riding number
 A rider having applied for a number in one class (i.e. Lites) cannot automatically assume it is their
number within the Open class. The rider must apply for a number in that class
 Numbers are to be only requested through the online request form
Career Numbers are given to riders as an acknowledgment of their support to the Victorian MX and
their achievements within the sport.
Criteria for career numbers:
 Must be Victorian Licence Holder
 Recognized participation by rider in either Junior/Senior Titles taken into consideration
 Must have been a Senior A grade rider for 5 years
 Career numbers are only offered by MX Management
 Career numbers are only between 11 – 99
 Riders are able to ride with a C before their number if career status recognised
 Riders recognized with a career number will receive notification of this
 Those career numbers are then not available for the first 12 months within the A grade listing,
thereafter they are available for selection with the following provision. A rider who does choose one
of the career numbers is advised that at any event should the career rider be in attendance they
have the right to ride with this number
MX Management congratulates the following riders acknowledged with Career Numbers in 2015:
KRISTY (GILLESPIE) LONG
GERAN STAPLETON
CAMERON TAYLOR
KADE MOSIG
# 11
# 14
# 18
# 48
Veteran’s numbers are only available to riders over 35 years of age. Riders with two digit vet numbers
are required to have competed within two rounds of the Victorian titles each year also commencing
2016.
Women’s career numbers will remain within the Women’s numbering format.
Motorcycling Victoria President, Michael Burns recognizes the need for a process to be implemented
and adhered to, and after meeting with MX Management could see that this was also being addressed
by the team. The process has been implemented after the recent grading’s and riders persistent
responses to answers that they did not like.
Unfortunately, riders only see some things and are not aware of why (which is behind the scene and
unknown by all) and the hours to maintain this process that the Number Volunteer person duly
completes this task. This process will now allow guidelines to be met and recognized by all, and riders
will understand what is required of them.
