After the conversation between John and Elizabeth that opens Act II, Mary Warren returns home,
and then Mr. Hale visits the Proctors. When Mary Warren arrives home, she tells the Proctors
that many people have been accused of witchcraft and that one woman has been sentenced to die.
Mr. Hale wants to learn about the Proctors since Elizabeth name has come up in court.
