I am very pleased to welcome you on behalf of the Integrity Commission of
Trinidad and Tobago.
A warm welcome is extended to all the Commissioners, the Registrar, Students,
Teachers and Staff of the Integrity Commission.
Welcome to the Award Ceremony for the 2016-17 Secondary Schools Do Right
Poster Design Project and a special thank you to all the Secondary Schools,
especially the students who participated in this Poster Design Project.
This is the fifth year in which we have hosted the Do Right Champions in the
school community. This year we have received amazing and innovative designs
from our participants. The wonderful array of designs truly encompassed the
meaning of Integrity and Ethics.
I am personally happy to see the hands-on approach with which all of the students
and Art teachers executed this project. The Commission received eighteen (18)
Poster Designs by December 1st 2016 from the thirty-five schools that registered. I
am happy to announce that six schools have been marked as finalists by external
adjudicators.
At the Integrity Commission we believe that everyone should be recognized for
doing the right thing. Indeed the Commission is mandated to educate persons on
the standards of Integrity, but more importantly, we believe it is our responsibility
2
to help our younger society to evoke, develop and foster an understanding of a
proper standard of Integrity.
As in preceding years, this year’s project is founded on the actual subject matter
taught in schools and acceptable values in society – placing an integral focus on
the Visual and Performing Arts to help align students with the true meaning of
Integrity in our communities.
We wish to thank and are most appreciative for the on-going collaboration with the
Ministry of Education, and the Division of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports of
the Tobago House of Assembly. They have been most supportive and we publicly
thank them for their valuable assistance.
As I close, I trust this competition will help to inculcate us all: to be decent, to be
fair, to do the right thing always which in turn would in turn help us recognise the
need for and to achieve a better future.
