General Weather Situation over the Lower Mekong Basin (LMB) 01August 2014 General Condition: On August 01 2014 at 01.00 am Local Cambodia Time (LCT), the latitude from 00N to 280N and the longitude from 900E to 1250E, the trough of the low pressure cell over the Central Lao PDR lies across Thailand, Cambodia, Lao PDR and Viet Nam while the moderate Southwest monsoon prevails over Myanmar, the Andaman Sea, the Gulf of Thailand, Thailand and Indochina Peninsular (Figure 1). During August 01-03, the trough lies across Thailand, Cambodia, Lao PDR and Viet Nam. more rain and isolated heavy rain will be likely in the Central, the South, the Southeast of Myanmar, the West Coast, the Central and the East of Thailand, the Southwest Coast, the Central, the East, the North and the Northeast of Cambodia, the lower Mekong Basin, the South and the Central of Lao PD, the South and the Southeast and the North of Viet Nam during 01-03 August. The waves height is expected about 2.0 meters high in the Andaman Sea and about 1.0-2.0 meters high in the upper Gulf of Thailand during 01-03 August 2014. During August 01-03 2014, rain will be likely in the Central, the South, the Southeast of Myanmar, the West Coast, the Central and the East of Thailand, the Southwest Coast, the Central, the East, the North and the Northeast of Cambodia, the lower Mekong Basin, the South and the Central of Lao PD, the South and the Southeast and the North of Viet Nam (Figure 4). The trough of low pressure over the Tonkin Gulf lies across Myanmar, Thailand, Lao PDR, Cambodia and Viet Nam at the height of 1.5km (850 hPa). On August 01-03 2014, the trough lies across Thailand, Cambodia, Lao PDR and Viet Nam while the moderate Southwest monsoon will prevail over Myanmar, the Andaman Sea, the Gulf of Thailand, Thailand and Indochina Peninsular. As the result of these phenomena, it will bring more rain and isolated heavy rain will be likely in the Central, the South, the Southeast of Myanmar, the West Coast, the Central and the East of Thailand, the Southwest Coast, the Central, the East, the North and the Northeast of Cambodia, the lower Mekong Basin, the South and the Central of Lao PD, the South and the Southeast and the North of Viet Nam during 01-03 August 2014. The waves height is expected about 2.0 meters high in the Andaman Sea and about 1.0-2.0 meters high in the upper Gulf of Thailand during 01-03 August 2014.
