Champion sprinter Cavendish confirmed for Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race 7 December 2015 The Minister for Tourism and Major Events, John Eren today announced British cyclist and sprint powerhouse Mark Cavendish will ride in the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, Elite Men’s Race on Sunday 31 January 2016. Olympian, former world champion, Tour de France legend and world class sprinter, 30 year old Cavendish will race for the first time with his new squad Team Dimension Data, who have just been awarded a UCI WorldTour Licence. The only place in Australia this summer to see Mark Cavendish race is in Victoria at the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race making it a must-attend event for anyone who loves road cycling. This is a major coup for the event and a credit to the world class racing conditions in Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula. “Mark Cavendish is without peer. He’s one of world cycling’s all-time greats, and he’ll be a major drawcard at the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race. “We wanted cycling’s biggest names in Victoria and that’s exactly what we’ve got.
