Attendance



Encouraged at every meeting
Encouraged – goal for attendance is 100% - attend at least half your meetings at your
home club (Reno Central), the rest can be “make-ups”
Make-ups - Attend other club within 2 weeks of absence (before or after).
o Attending committee meetings or social functions also counts as a Make-up
Committees - Active participation in one or more committees is expected






Club Service – Monthly Social Events, Super Bowl Party, Demotion Party, Foundation
Dinner, Awards Banquet
Vocational Service – Vocational Minutes
Community Service – Veteran’s Dinner, Evelyn Mount Senior’s Thanksgiving Dinner,
Northern Nevada Food Bank, NNCCF Horse Show, Animal Ark, Salvation Army Bell
Ringing, NNCCF Tournament of Hope, Winter Coats 4 Kids
International Service – Clean Water projects, Supporting Orphanages, Support for
Women & Children in Third World Countries are some of the activities of this committee.
Youth Services – Interact Club, REGL, RYLA, RYE, Music & Speech Contests, MIS/ABO
(Most Improved Student, Achievement Beyond Obstacles), Scholarships, Rotaract

Fundraising - Active participation in main Fundraising activities is expected



Explain club’s fundraising successes:
2015/2016 raised $55,000 in general funds with Annual Reno Crab Feed and
$6,000 with SuperPool
2016/2017 raised $77,000 in general funds with our Annual Reno Crab Feed and
$6,000 with SuperPool
Ways that you can help!
 Participate - Come to the Crab Feed!! - Buy two tickets, or if you can, buy a table of 8 or
10! (Or sell tickets to friends...)
 Sell (or Buy) 10 of our 50/50 Raffle tickets
 Solicit some Silent or Live Auction Items from local Businesses
 Help on a Committee - It is a BIG event, and if we share the workload we can avoid
volunteer burn-out
Rotary Foundation - Charitable Arm of Rotary International

Minimum $100 contribution annually required – 50% comes back to District for funding
local projects in Reno/Sparks area after 3 year investment waiting period covers
operating expenses; balance to fund International humanitarian efforts.
Rotary Club of Reno Central vs. Rotary Club of Reno Central Charitable Foundation


The Rotary Club of Reno Central is a 501(c)(4) incorporated entity that handles all
administrative matters of the club (dues to District, RI, lunch fees, administrative costs)
The Rotary Club of Reno Central Charitable Foundation is a certified 501(c)3 non-profit,
handles all fundraising income, expenses and distributions to charities. Focused mostly
on local giving, scholarship and youth leadership programs. Separate Board of
Directors comprised of 9 club members operates the Foundation – 4 Directors are
chosen from current Club Officers – President and President-Elect, Secretary and
Treasurer (Secretary and Treasurer are non-voting Directors), 5 at-large members are
nominated and elected by the members. Each Foundation at-large Director serves 3 year
term. All members can submit funding requests to the Community Service Committee for
consideration and probable funding by the Foundation if base criteria are met.
Social Activities - coordinated by Club Service Chair – Lance Newlin



Monthly gatherings in social settings with spouse and sometimes children – Happy
Hours, Super Bowl party, Crab Feast, Holiday Party, Progressive Dinners, Mystery Bus
Trips, Movie Night, Demotion Party, Awards Banquet etc.
Attendance encouraged at as many social events as possible – best way to get to know
members on a personal level
Excellent fellowship opportunities for new members
Financial Obligations







$100 initiation fee (payable one time only)
$150 annual dues (required)
$100 donation to the Rotary Foundation (required)
$50 minimum for club fines (required), $100 requested (These funds are used for
Club Functions)
$20 for lunch when you attend the weekly meetings at the Peppermill
Cash collected from Fines, Happy Dollars, and 50/50 raffle ticket sales fund the
Community Service Fund for RCRC.

What to Expect at Induction Ceremony




Badge and pin at induction (new member red badge required)
District 5190 free packet of Rotary information and a copy of the Rotarian Magazine
given to new member at induction. RI’s dues automatically subscribe you to the
monthly Rotarian Magazine.

Register on ClubRunner and upload your photo and complete your profile
Be a Greeter for at least 4 weeks after your induction; assist regularly scheduled
Greeter at front door by 11:45 a.m.; meet and greet members as they arrive; wear
name badge and Greeter button
Attend at least one Club Board of Directors meeting - each month at CVirtual, 155
Cadillac Place on the 3rd Friday at 11:45 a.m. Free lunch! Learn how the business
of Rotary gets done!
Select at least one Club Committee to serve on
Do a “Make-Up” Attend at least one other Rotary Club meeting in Reno/Sparks or
the world, preferably with new member’s sponsor or club officer
Attend next club social event
Make annual $100 PHF Award contribution to Rotary Foundation for “Sustaining
Member” status and pay
Wear your Rotary Pin – It’s a great conversation starter, and membership tool!
