Growing in faith and knowledge to serve God and community.
St. Joseph Catholic School Mission
*Closing Mass* This Wednesday, May 17, is our closing mass. Students are to arrive
at school as they normally do. We will attend mass at 8:15, distribute report cards at the end of
mass, and then students are dismissed. All families are encouraged to attend mass. If you cannot,
please make arrangements to have your child picked up by 9:15 outside of the church.
*Eighth Graduation* St. Joseph Catholic School’s eighth grade class will have
their graduation on Sunday, May 21, at the 10:30 mass. Please plan to attend this mass to
celebrate this very special occasion with our eighth grade class.
*Summer* Throughout the lazy days of summer, I urge you to designate a nonlazy half-hour / hour each day. During that time, encourage your son/daughter to read a
book, practice math facts, work a word puzzle, use IXL to review math and English
skills, or even get on the computer and play math/reading skill games. Anything to keep
our students minds active and growing over the summer months!
*Challenge* With the end of the school year, thoughts are now turning to summer and
vacations. If your family is away on vacation or just away from home over the weekend, I
challenge your family to search out a church and attend mass. Take a picture of your family in
front of the church and text or email the picture to me. I’ll then ask Father to post it to FB. Let’s
see how many different cities, states, or countries our families attend mass at this summer!
*Sunflower* We received a check in the amount of $664.15 from Sunflower Bank. A
portion of the money was matching funds from Nathan Hammeke’s “A’s” on his report card. The
rest of the funds come from consumers who bank with Sunflower and use their debit card. What
a nice end-of-the-year surprise!
*Smile* Thanks to all who have signed up for Amazon Smile! We received a quarterly
payment for the months Jan – March of $72.06. Encourage your friends and family to sign up!
*Scrip* Over the summer months, your obligation to purchase scrip continues. Scrip is
available at the church office between the hours of 8:00am-4:00pm, before and after weekend
masses, and from the following individuals: Darcie Lyman, Karen Kramp, Angie Gunn @ FMI,
Jenny Kasselman, and Meredith Joiner. Please make every effort to purchase scrip for EFF, WalMart, and Amazon before you shop!

*Sports Physicals* Before you take your child(ren) to get a sports physical this
summer, please print the physical form from our website and take it with you to have the
doctor complete. The state requires us to use the latest version of the form, and the one
on our website is the most recent. This is for sports physicals only!
*Plan Ahead* Please mark your calendars for the all-school family
potluck/meeting. Prior to the new school year, the school council is requesting all
families to attend this event on August 6. The meal will begin at 5:30pm followed by a
quick informational meeting. It will be held in the Parish Center.
*Weekend Mass* - 5:00pm Saturday and 10:30am Sunday - See you at Mass! This is
sixth Sunday of Easter. Press the CTRL key then click on this link to find the scripture readings
for this weekend. http://www.ewtn.com/devotionals/inspiration.htm
Father will read from the Gospel of John 14:15-21 “If you love me, you will keep my
commandments.” How is Jesus challenging you in today’s Gospel?
May God bless you and your family with safe travel and relaxed
family time this summer. – Mrs. Clayton
