TERM 4 - STARTS ON THE - 10TH OCTOBER
Enjoy the holiday break – stay safe. See you all back in Term 4 
PRINCIPALS CORNER Kia ora all Kuratu whanau. Term 3 is ending so we hope you all have a happy and safe holiday break. This
winter term has been marked by a large number of children off sick. Well done to all children in the ski squad, thanks to the efforts of the
parents involved everyone is skiing the upper mountain now. We are looking forward to the summer term. I see “Daylight Savings” starts
this weekend. Term 4 is busy with Pet Day, Athletics and this year we hope to have the pool open, to run Swimwell training for the last 2
weeks of term. Most importantly we do our summative assessment which identifies students progress from where they were at the
beginning of the year. There will be some staffing changes. A big “thankyou” to Whaea Doris who as Teacher Aide has been such an
important part of our school over the last 5 years. Welcome to our new Teacher Aide Zoe Rossall . We are currently receiving applications
for the teaching position which is being vacated by Ms Joyce. This position starts in 2017. Finally a big thank you to the Ministry of Health
who have supplied wonderful fruit for every student every day and Fonterra who supply milk for every day of the school year.
FAREWELL TO WHAEA DORIS
This term we sadly farewell Whaea Doris who has been with the school for 5 years. She has been
an integral part of our school not just as our valued Teacher Aide but also as our basketball and
sports lady, Bike Day Cook, Fancy Dress decorator, Room 2 maths guru and hall co-ordinator to
name just a few. Doris is heading north to be closer to her whanau and mokupuna. Thank you for
your years of dedication and commitment to Kuratau school and all the tamariki. You will be missed
heaps and we wish you all the very best for the next chapter of your life. 
SCREEN PRINTING ROOM 1 This term Room 1 have been learning how to screen print on the Wednesdays snow squad goes up the

SNOW SQUAD FINAL REPORT – 2016 SEASON Wow what a finish to our season, fresh powder for the kids & adults to
experience! It made for some seriously hard skiing & riding but at least it was lovely & soft for anyone who fell. This was our fifth & final
session up the mountain with nearly everyone mastering the T Bars on the upper mountain. The kids have made the school, themselves and
their families proud by demonstrating a fantastic can do attitude and never giving up. It gives me immense pleasure to watch the children
progress so quickly and to see their big tired smiles from yet another epic day on the mountain.
I would like to thank all those who gave up their time to drive and help the kids, without you it would not be possible! I’m already looking
forward to 2017 winter!! By Zoe Rossall
Check out these pictures of our tamariki participating in our Discovery Day on Wednesday 21st September.
They had great fun creating and exploring.
