eatingstyle?AsaNationalStrategicPartnerintheMyPlateProgram,Chobaniis
hostingthisRecipechallengeactivitywiththeschoolsinthecommunitiesinwhich
weproduceourproductstohelpchildrenrelatetheirlocalfoodinwaystohelp
themmakehealthyfoodchoicesatmealandsnacktimes.Thechallengeisintended
tohelpchildrenlearnabouttheMyPlaterecommendationsandaboutforming
healthyeatinghabitsearlythatcanlastalifetime.

ELIGIBILITY:Opentostudentsingrades6th–8thatthefollowingparticipating
schoolsinIdaho:VeraC.O’LearyMiddleSchool,RobertStuartMiddleSchooland
XavierCharterSchoolinIdahoandstudentsingrades5th–8thinthefollowing
participatingschools/districtsinNewYork:NorwichMiddleschool,Edmestonand
UnadillaValleyCentralSchoolDistrictsinNewYork,whoarelegalresidentsofthe
UnitedStatesasoftimeofentryandtimeofawardingtheprize.Studentsmust
obtainparental/legalguardianconsentpriortoenteringthischallenge.
PROMOTIONPERIOD:ForNewYork,thepromotionrunsfromJanuary23,2017to
February10,2017(“PromotionPeriod”).ForIdaho,theChallengerunsfrom
January3,2017toMarch32017.

1. Atitleforyourrecipe;
2. Alistofalloftheingredientsinyourrecipeinorderofuseintherecipe,
includingthemeasurements,incommonhouseholdunitsofmeasure.All
recipesmustincludeonlynaturalingredients,whichmustbeavailableat
yourlocalretailer.Yourlistofingredientsshouldnotincludeanybrand
namesotherthanCHOBANI;
3. Step‐by‐steppreparationandcookinginstructions,nottoexceed200words;
4. Thenumberofservingstherecipewillmake;
5. Anessay,nottoexceed200words,describingtheinspirationbehindyour
recipe,suchashowyoucameupwiththerecipe,howtheingredients
representyourcommunityorstateandhowyourrecipecanbeincorporated
intoahealthymealorsnack;and
6. Adrawingorphotographofyourrecipe,asprepared,nottoexceed81/2“
by11”.
ForNewYorkParticipants:EntriesmustbesubmittedtoyourHomeroom/Health
teachernolaterthanFebruary10,2017.
ForIdahoParticipants:EntriesmustbesubmittedtoyourFamilyConsumerScience
orparticipatingclassroomteachernolaterthanMarch3,2017.
Youcannotsubmitmorethanoneentry.Multipleentriesbythesameentrantwill
bevoid.Entriesarenottransferableorassignable.Entriesthatareincomplete,
illegibleorunintelligibleforanyreasonarevoidandwillnotbeaccepted.All
entriesbecomethepropertyoftheSponsor.
Entriesmustbetheoriginalworkoftheentrant,mustnothavewonprevious
awards,manynothavebeenpreviouslypublished,mustnotinfringetherightsof
anythirdpartiesandmustbesuitableforpublication.
JUDGINGCRITERIA:Entrieswillbejudgedbyapanelofqualifiedjudgesbased
uponthefollowingcriteriainordertonarrowtheentriestothetopfive(5)Finalists
fromeachschool:
(a)Overallnutritionqualityoftherecipe,usingtheMyPlatecriteria(30%);
(b)tasteappeal(25%);
(c)creativeuseofCHOBANI®GreekYogurt(25%)
(d)thewrittendescriptionaccompanyingtherecipe(15%);and
(e)affordability(5%).
Intheunlikelyeventofatie,theFinalistwillbetheentrantwiththehighestOverall
NutritionQualityscore.
TheFinalistentriesfromeachstatewillbepreparedinatestkitchenaccordingto
theinstructionsintheFinalistentries,byaqualifiedpanelofjudges.TheFinalists
willbejudgedbaseduponthefollowingcriteria:
(a) Taste(34%);
(b) Easeofpreparation(33%);
(c) Overallnutritionqualityoftherecipe,usingtheMyPlatecriteria(33%).
TheGrandPrizeWinnerforeachschoolwillbetheFinalistwiththehighestoverall
scoreineachschool.TheFinalistwiththesecondhighestoverallscoreineach
schoolwillbetheFirstPrizeWinner.TheFinalistwiththethirdhighestoverall
scoreineachschoolwillbetheSecondPrizeWinner.Intheunlikelyeventofatieat
anyprizelevel,thewinnerofthatprizewillbetheFinalistwiththehighestTaste
score.Allprizeswillbeawarded,providedthereisasufficientnumberofqualified
entries.Thedecisionsofthejudgesshallbefinalandbinding.
FINALISTANDWINNERNOTIFICATION:Finalistswillbenotifiedbytheirschool
Principal.Finalist’sparent/legalguardianwillberequiredtocompleteandreturn
toyourteacheranotarizedAffidavitofEligibility/wherepermitted,Publicity
Releasewithinfive(5)daysofnotificationtobeconsideredintheFinalistroundof
judging.Intheeventthedocumentisnotreturnedwithinthespecifiedtime,the
FinalistopportunitywillbeforfeitedanalternateFinalistwillbeselectedaccording
totheJudgingCriteriaoutlinedabovefortheselectionoftheFinalists.
Winnerswillbenotifiedbytheirschoolprincipal.Winner’sparent/legalguardian
willberequiredtocompleteandreturnaReleaseofLiability(“Release”)priortothe
awardingoftheprize.IntheeventtheReleaseisnotreturnedto[whom]withinthe
specifiedtime,theprizewillbeforfeitedandwillbeawardedtoanotherFinalist,
usingtheJudgingcriteriaoutlinedabovefortheselectionoftheWinners.
