All new and renewal Operator’s license requests meet the requirements to hold a license and have been approved by the Police Department. Both the Portage County Democratic Party Picnic and St. Stanislaus Steak Feed are annual events. We have had no issues with these events. The Lemon Grass Noodle House currently has a class B beer and wine license. They wish to sell liquor. We currently have two “Class B” Combination Licenses available. Big Hunchie’s is looking to change their Agent. The new agent has been approved by the Police Department. The last three items are requests to renew their current licenses. No issues have been brought to our attention regarding their renewals. *2. We have two request for street closures this month. Re: Corn on the Curb, August 6, 2016
Dear City Clerk,
The Association of Downtown Businesses is working with the Downtown Tavern Owners to host the 14th
Annual Corn on the Curb. Please let this letter serve as or request to utilize the Historic Downtown
Square for this growing event, and a Temporary Class B Retailer's License.
•
Fencing will be provided around the interior portion of the Square with the for access point to
enter the square. The sidewalk surrounding the square will not be inside the "event grounds" .
•
Please have the square fountain turned off by 2pm on Saturday August 6th through Sunday
morning August ih.
•
Main Street and Second Street will remain open until 2pm to accommodate the morning
customers to the Farmer's Market.
•
Market Vendor have agreed to vacate the area by 2pm to allow adequate time for the
remainder of event set up to be completed
•
Saturday' s activities will run from 4pm-11pm
Event organizers will have staff at every access point checking IDs on Saturday. Also every tavern owner
will have an employee posted at the door with a sign stating no carry-ins, or carry-outs.
The event organizers will continue working with the Police Department to ensure this event's success.

You will note a new agenda item asking for topics for future consideration. In my daytime job,
the chairperson of my Solid Waste Management Board added this item to all agenda several
years ago. She felt it would better engage members, broaden perspectives and serve as a conduit
for concepts to move from "idea" to "policy". Given my absolute respect for her public policy
acumen and her inclusive leadership, I have opted to model this method and include it on the
agenda.
Please note this is not a discussion of topics/ideas. I will not allow any discussion past a brief
sentence or two to describe a topic/idea. If there is a need for additional information, either from
the alder or staff, it will occur at another time in preparation for a meeting and subsequent
discussion on a properly noticed agenda.
This is an experiment in public policy engagement. I hope it is successful. If it is, then it will be
a regular agenda item. If it is not, it will no longer be listed.
