From the office…
WOW – it is hard to believe that we have already
been back to school for an entire month!
Last week we had a very successful Terry Fox Run.
Thanks so much to all who supported this great
cause! This week, our SCC is hosting two exciting
fundraiser events - the Scholastic Book Fair and a
yummy bake sale!
Ms. Messer and Mr. Glasspool have been busy coaching our Girls’ & Boys’
Soccer Teams. Both teams did an awesome job representing the Tigers at our
South East area tournaments on October 5th. Thank you to our coaches and
players for their commitment to this endeavour.
Please be sure to check our website regularly to
ensure you are aware of the many wonderful things
happening at Macphail each and every day!
Mr. Glasspool, Ms. Collett and our Concert Band have been rehearsing on
Tuesday nights from 3:10 – 4:30pm! Several more exciting musical activities will
begin soon…..stay tuned for more information!
During the season of Thanksgiving, we should be
thankful to be part of such an amazing school
community!
Cross Country runners have been practicing several times each week to prepare
for two meets in Meaford during the month of October. Thanks to Miss Grant,
Mr. Stevens, Mrs. Verbeek, Mrs. P-L and Mr. Kulakowsky for supervising this
team!
S
Sincerely,
Laurie Gilkinson & Liz Collett
Our Me to We crew is in full force with the help of Mrs. Knight, Mr. Glasspool &
Mme Green. A contingent of student leaders will be heading to Toronto soon to
participate in We Day and bring back lots of new ideas to promote being great
global citizens!

We would like to extend a HUGE thank you to OPP
Officer Melissa Barfoot and Ms. Collett for providing a
training session for all of our bus patrols at Macphail.
Our thanks is also extended to First Student Bus Company
who will be providing Bus Safety sessions to all of our
students at Macphail. This program ensures that all
students know how to evacuate our buses safely in the
event of an emergency. It also reminds students of saferiding practices.
Safety Patrols and bus drivers have a very important role
at our school. They oversee the safety of your child on
the bus each day on the way to and from Macphail.
If you have any concerns about the
safety of your child travelling to and
from school, please contact the office.
Information for ALL Kindergarten students!!
Since you registered your child last year, they have likely
received their 4-6 year boosters for Tetanus, Diphtheria,
Pertussis, Polio, Measles, Mumps, Rubella and chickenpox.
Doctor’s offices do not automatically send this information to us.
Public Health is required by law to have immunization records for
all students registered in all schools. To ensure that we have all
records up to date for your child, please notify us of any
immunizations given since your child has turned four years of
age. It is recommended to receive these boosters as soon after
your child turns four, and not delaying until a later age.
Immunization protects children from many serious diseases that
are easily spread in schools.
You can do this by: Scanning the yellow immunization record and
emailing to [email protected];
Fax to: 519-376-7782 or Call: 519-376-9420 or 1-800-263-3456

something added to the agenda, please contact Jennifer Macdonald:

The club's priority is to get fruits, vegetables, protein, and
healthy grains into our kids so they can have a successful
school day. Volunteers are needed to prepare and serve in
the mornings (for an hour or so anytime between 7 and
10am. Volunteers are also needed for clean-up any time in
the afternoon. If you are interested in food prep which can
be done at any time, this is another way to help out! It's
lots of fun!
Please contact Marcia at 226-668-6910 or
[email protected] if you can help.
