Aurora Golf Classic - Aurora Project Toledo

WE CHANGE LIVES….NEW BEGINNINGS FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN
Fall 2015
Aurora Golf Classic
Although the weather threatened to move the golf
outing once again this year, it held off until the very
end and only a few holes were sacrificed – except for
a few hardy souls who played all 18 holes !
Thanks to the Toledo Country Club and its golf pro,
Tony Searl, who had a rain date all set to go, just in
case. There were a record number of golfers this year, necessitating an early
morning flight of 6 teams, bringing the total of golfers to 168 / 42 teams !
The annual event raises money for, and promotes awareness of the work performed by the Aurora Project..
This year’s winners included:
1st Place Team
Team Bowsher
2nd Place Team
Pro Golf Fairways
3rd Place Team
Lynn Murnan

Joe presenting to 1st place team Joe Rychnovsky again served as Honorary Chair, also served as auctioneer, and presented the
awards at the dinner which followed a day of golf. Kasey, a former resident of the Aurora House
with Kasey
shared her story with the assembled diners. Kasey, who now has her own apartment and received
her GED, described how Aurora supported her through her training and reunification with her daughter. The evening ended with a live
auction, with bidding fueled by Kasey’s inspirational message. Aurora wishes to recognize the following sponsors for this years outing:

RIBBON CUTTING FOR NEW BEGINNINGS
The Aurora Project celebrated the opening of its Permanent
Supportive Housing Residence (New Beginnings) with a ribbon
cutting ceremony on Monday June 15th, 2015. The four apartment facility located at 529 Elm Street will house women who
have engaged in services through Aurora’s transitional housing
program.
This permanent supportive housing signifies an important step
on the road back to self-sufficiency for the women and their
children. “This new residence brings us closer to our vision of a
complete campus, safely housing women from intake through
independent living while staying true to our mission of providing safe and supportive housing” said Denise F. Fox, Aurora’s
Executive Director.
Several local dignitaries attended the ceremony, including
Mayor Hicks-Hudson, representatives of City Council and the
Lucas County Land Bank and Commissioners Office.

Fall 2015
Workplace Giving Programs
Fall is the time for Workplace giving campaigns, whether it’s Community Shares, United Way or another giving program your employer
supports. Through such programs, employees can make a general donation to be utilized in a community fund or if you wish to support
Aurora House, through one of these giving programs. Simply write in
your Aurora House designation on the pledge sheet provided by your
employer (see samples to the right).
Employees can choose to donate in several ways: cash, check, credit
card, or payroll deduction. Whether your company does payroll inhouse or through an outside source, implementing automatic payroll
deduction is a simple process that requires no more time than implementing any other deduction. Simply visit either your human resource
or finance department and tell them you would like to donate to
Aurora House through payroll deduction. Your designation of $30.00
assists Aurora in providing essential programming and services for one
day, to the women and children who reside here.
