"China's Terracotta Warriors" in Seattle

Seattle is one of only two cities in the
country privileged to exhibit China's
"Terracotta Warriors." These lifesize
statues of antiquity date back to the First
Imperial Dynasy over 2000 years ago and
are the most significant archeological
excavations of the 20th century. Seattle's
Pacific Science Center plays host to this
magnificent exhibit which features statues
of ancient Chinese soldiers, civil officials
and entertainers unearthed from the burial
complex of China's first emperor.
Learn about the cultural context of these
warriors as well as the craftsmanship of the
statues. This overnight trip to Seattle
includes a visit to this world-class exhibition,
admission to a special related IMAX film, an informative private breakfast and presentation to prepare us for
our "trip to China," an evening at the dazzling Teatro ZinZanni --- part dinner theatre cabaret, part international
exhilarating cirque, admission to the brilliant Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum at the Seattle Center, lunch at
the picturesque Falls Terrace Restaurant in Tumwater, WA and overnight at the charming historic Mayflower
Park Hotel. There will be time to tour the iconic Space Needle if you wish, shop and enjoy lunch at one of the
Seattle Center's many eateries.

Day 1: Sunday, August 27
Eugene to Seattle, Teatro ZinZanni
Travel by motorcoach from Eugene to the beautiful city of Seattle. Stops are made along the way including
lunch at the popular Falls Terrace Restaurant, located on the Deschutes River overlooking Tumwater Falls
Park. Our arrival into Seattle shows us a city reflected in sparkling blue water with a backdrop of the jagged
Olympic Mountains. Our early check-in at the lovely historic Mayflower Park Hotel allows us time to relax
before we head off to our exciting dinner theatre this evening at Teatro ZinZanni. Expect a fast paced, action
oriented dinner theatre full of humor, circus acrobatics, great singing and colorful vaudeville. Dinner is five
courses and is served during the show. Beverages, including alcohol, are extra.

Day 2: Monday, August 28
Chihuly Garden & Glass, Terracotta Warriors Exhibition
To prepare us for our visit to the Terracotta Warriors exhibition this
afternoon, an expert in the field of archeology joins us for breakfast to
share slides and commentary about these amazing statues. After
breakfast we make our way to the Chihuly Garden & Glass, a stunning
tribute to world-renowned glass artist, Dale Chihuly. This attraction
consists of eight galleries, a 40-foot tall Glasshouse and a lush garden
filled to the brim with incredible colorful glass art.
Lunch will be on your own to peruse Seattle Center's eatery options and
ride to the top of the iconic Space Needle if you wish.
Preceding our visit to the Terracotta Warriors: Guards for Eternity
exhibition, the Pacific Center's IMA theatre takes us cinematically on an
ancient Chinese journey in the film Mysteries of China. Then we see the
terracotta statues, whose modern story began with their discovery in 1974
when a farmer was digging a well for his orchard and today tells the story
of a culture and its craftsmanship. We have plenty of time to peruse these
intriguing pieces of art and history and to visit the exhibition's giftshop. By
mid-afternoon we are ready to leave Seattle behind and make our way
southward into the Willamette Valley and home, evermore filled with
knowledge of ancient China.

The total cost for this trip is only: $639 per person double occupancy, $769 single occupancy, $615 per
person triple occupancy. Tour includes: one night hotel including roundtrip baggage handling, one buffet
breakfast, private lecture/presentation, one lunch, Teatro ZinZanni gala dinner theatre, admission to the Pacific
Science Center's Terracotta Warriors: Guards for Eternity, admission to the IMAX film: Mysteries of China,
admission to Chihuly Garden and Glass, all Experience Oregon motorcoach transportation and sightseeing as
per the itinerary, taxes and gratuities for the above, and services of an Experience Oregon Tour Director.
Not Included: Customary and optional gratuities for the driver, tour director and hotel room maid.
Deposit: $150 per person required at the time your reservation is made.
Payment/Cancellation Policy: Payment is required in full sixty (60) days prior to tour departure, (no later
than June 27, 2017) or at time of booking if reservation is made within 60 days of departure. If payment is not
received by this time, reservations may be cancelled and any waitlisted passenger could be added to the trip.
Cancellations received after final payment date (June 27, 2017) are charged $100 per person cancellation fee
plus any irretrievable payments made to vendors. Cancellations made less than seven (7) days prior to
departure including no-shows are non-refundable. Trip cancellation insurance is highly recommended; call us
for recommendations and details.
Pick-up Locations: We will pick up passengers at all of our standard locations: Eugene (Willamette Christian
Center, Peterson Barn, Shopko), Albany (Spicer Drive), Salem Airport ($5.00 per day parking fee).
What to pack: Though there is no strict dress code on this tour, blue jeans and sneakers are discouraged at
Teatro ZinZanni. What is encouraged is dressing up to fit the dazzling, fun ambiance of the evening. Nearly
anything goes…boas, hats, sequins, etc…you name it! Walking is essential at the Pacific Science Center and
Seattle Center, so be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.
Hotel: The Mayflower Park Hotel was built in 1927 and is an elegant member of Historic Hotels of America.
Its architecture, historic significance, good location and old-world charm make it one of Seattle’s best loved
hotels. Included in your stay is a complimentary newspaper, in-room coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and board,
onsite fitness studio, restaurant and lounge, and quick and easy access to Westlake Shopping Center.
