These lifesize statues of antiquity date back to the First Imperial Dynasy over 2000 years ago and are the most significant archeological excavations of the 20th century. Seattle's Pacific Science Center plays host to this magnificent exhibit which features statues of ancient Chinese soldiers, civil officials and entertainers unearthed from the burial complex of China's first emperor. Learn about the cultural context of these warriors as well as the craftsmanship of the statues. This overnight trip to Seattle includes a visit to this world-class exhibition, admission to a special related IMAX film, an informative private breakfast and presentation to prepare us for our "trip to China," an evening at the dazzling Teatro ZinZanni --- part dinner theatre cabaret, part international exhilarating cirque, admission to the brilliant Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum at the Seattle Center, lunch at the picturesque Falls Terrace Restaurant in Tumwater, WA and overnight at the charming historic Mayflower Park Hotel. Our arrival into Seattle shows us a city reflected in sparkling blue water with a backdrop of the jagged Olympic Mountains. Our early check-in at the lovely historic Mayflower Park Hotel allows us time to relax before we head off to our exciting dinner theatre this evening at Teatro ZinZanni. Teatro ZinZanni Day 2: Monday, August 28 Chihuly Garden & Glass, Terracotta Warriors Exhibition To prepare us for our visit to the Terracotta Warriors exhibition this afternoon, an expert in the field of archeology joins us for breakfast to share slides and commentary about these amazing statues. After breakfast we make our way to the Chihuly Garden & Glass, a stunning tribute to world-renowned glass artist, Dale Chihuly. This attraction consists of eight galleries, a 40-foot tall Glasshouse and a lush garden filled to the brim with incredible colorful glass art. Lunch will be on your own to peruse Seattle Center's eatery options and ride to the top of the iconic Space Needle if you wish. Preceding our visit to the Terracotta Warriors: Guards for Eternity exhibition, the Pacific Center's IMA theatre takes us cinematically on an ancient Chinese journey in the film Mysteries of China. Then we see the terracotta statues, whose modern story began with their discovery in 1974 when a farmer was digging a well for his orchard and today tells the story of a culture and its craftsmanship. We have plenty of time to peruse these intriguing pieces of art and history and to visit the exhibition's giftshop. Walking is essential at the Pacific Science Center and Seattle Center, so be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.
