28th February 2014 Dear Parents/carers, I hope you had a lovely half term. This week the children started their new topic on rivers Meandering Madness. They have been busy learning the key vocabulary for parts of a river system. Also the children learnt about the water cycle and are currently carrying out an experiment to show how the water cycle works. In maths this week the focus has been multiplication. The children have used arrays, partitioning and the grid method to help work out the answers to multiplications and to solve problems. Please support your child learning their times tables, they need to be confident in all times tables by the end of year 4. The literacy focus for the next couple of weeks is writing a non-chronological report, the children have started their research to help them write this, it will be about rivers and flooding! Next week we will go to Pulborough Brooks, please ensure your child has a warm coat, packed lunch and their wellies (in a named carrier) for the trip. I am hopeful that the weather will stay dry! Kind regards Miss Pankhurst and Mrs Campbell This week’s homework: Reading: Read as often as possible, if you read silently write me a comment to tell me what happened.
