Volunteers don`t get paid, not because they`re worthless, but

Dear Red Hawk Ridge Families,
I wanted to take the opportunity to thank all of the amazing
volunteers we have had this school year.
To truly show the staff’s appreciation I have selected some
quotes that express our gratitude much more eloquently than I
could have.
Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless,
but because they're priceless. ~Sherry Anderson
Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just
have the heart. ~Elizabeth Andrew
I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but
I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do
interfere with what I can do. ~Edward Everett Hale
What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what
we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal. ~Albert Pike

Nurse’s Corner
Parents: Spring cleaning is coming around the corner. So keep the clinic in mind when you
are looking to donate. We are always in need of winter clothes and shoes; girls and boys
pants and underwear. Any other supplies that are donated are very welcomed!
We have been seeing a lot of colds, flu. The biggest tool for prevention is washing your
hands with soap and warm water for 2 minutes (while singing happy birthday or the alphabet song x2).
Here are some other things that keep us healthy:
* being fully immunized
* getting plenty of exercise, sleep, rest, and leisure
* eating foods that fuel your body
* covering coughs and sneezes with our sleeve
* staying away from sugar when you feel sick * doing activities together as a family
* brushing your teeth 2 times or more a day
Take care of yourself and your family in this time of increased colds and flu. Think of your own ways
you can stay healthy! I always like to hear about your creative ideas.
Happy March!
Thank you!

“Eyes Wide Open: A Brave New Look at Bullying”
Presented by CCSD professionals, Dr. Marla Bonds, PBIS/Intervention Coordinator and Stacey Brandon, M.S.W.,
Safety & Intervention Coach. In this presentation and discussion parents will be challenged to expand their vision
of bullying. We will examine the prevalence of bullying in youth sports and activities. How do we know if our children
are being bullied or doing the bullying themselves during their favorite activity? We will discuss how to discern if
bullying is actually happening and when and how to intervene.
Additionally, we will encourage participants to broaden their vision while looking at our own behaviors
on the sidelines, with coaches or in adult organizations. Are we modeling positive bystander responses when we see
bullying or harassment happen in the adult world? Be brave and bring an open mind as we
re-examine our own interactional patterns and explore the power of modeling as parents.
Presentations are held the first Tuesday of each month and are FREE.
Meetings are held at the Student Achievement Resource Center (SARC),
14188 Briarwood Avenue, Centennial, south of Arapahoe Rd., between Potomac and Jordan Roads
Come at 9:00 a.m. for refreshments and networking
