FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Green Bay Water Utility Celebrates Drinking Water Week
2016 Drinking Water Week Theme is “Your Water – To Know It Is To Love It”
GREEN BAY, Wis. (May 2, 2016) – Green Bay Water Utility, the American Water Works Association and
water professionals across North America are kicking off Drinking Water Week today by highlighting the
theme “Your Water – To Know It Is To Love It.”
Throughout the week, Green Bay Water Utility, AWWA and water community partners will celebrate
Drinking Water Week by recognizing the vital role water plays in our daily lives and in the quality of life
we enjoy because of it. Focus will be placed on ways in which water consumers can get to know and
value their water supply and local water utility during this special week.
“AWWA and the water community have joined together for several decades to celebrate an important
event in our industry, and that’s Drinking Water Week,” said AWWA Chief Executive Officer David
LaFrance. “We look forward to Drinking Water Week each year to assist consumers in understanding
and appreciating their local water supply and water utility.”
“At Green Bay Water Utility, our goal has always been to deliver the high-quality water our customers
deserve and protect the families we serve,” said Green Bay Water Utility General Manager and member
of the AWWA Board of Directors Nancy Quirk. “Drinking Water Week is a great opportunity for our
customers to better understand and appreciate where their water comes from.”
For more than 35 years, AWWA and its members have celebrated Drinking Water Week, a unique
opportunity for both water professionals and the communities they serve to join together in recognizing
the vital role water plays in our daily lives. Additional information about Drinking Water Week, including
free materials for download and celebration ideas, is available on the Drinking Water Week webpage.
